Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger?

You really won't believe it - but it is, as it says, Amazing.

There is a beautiful and convincing explanation given by the Chinese.

Thumb represents your Parents
Second (Index) fin ger represents your Siblings
Middle finger represents your-Self
Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner
&the Last (Little) finger represents your children

Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back
Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers an d the thumb - tip to tip
Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)..., they will open, because your parent s are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later.
Please rejoin your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings), they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.
Now rejoin the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children), they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day.
Finally, rejoin your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse).
You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT, because Husband &Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin!!

I can pull my ring fingers apart slightly. Maybe that's what happened.

I can separate mine too. It's not as easy, but I can do it.
As for me, I'm feeling pretty scubalicious.

I can't figure the first part out about

Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back

What does that say about me :wakawaka:

Kamala,
Don't feel bad, I have no clue what you are supposed to do either....

first off, the hand does not have a "face" or "face" side.

Well the palm would probably be the face but not sure how you bend the middles fingers and hold them together back to back. I guess I really am :wakawaka:

OK try this explanation. Tent all 5 fingers so that just the tips touch. Then bend the middle fingers into the palms and touch them back to back then try seperating each set of fingers. Hope this helps the folically challenged.

My 4th fingers come slightly apart too, but it takes effort......maybe that's what's going on with my marriage.....

YEA!!!

That worked and I can not move the 4th fingers apart UNLESS the middle fingers also slightly move apart as well. In order to keep the middle fingers tightly back to back (per Keith's description) I have to move them slightly to allow the 4th aka ring fingers to also move slightly.

If this is true....I"M THRILLED OVER THIS INABILITY TO MOVE MY RING FINGERS!!!! :teeth:

Don't try this with bending your index fingers instead of your middle fingers...

Well, if I don't let my middle fingers separate at all, then I can't do it either. I guess I wasn't doing it right the first time (pun intended). Maybe there's hope after all. LOL.

I could separate all my fingers, maybe I couldn't get the instructions right, maybe that's why I missed the "until death do us part" in my marriage! lol.
