In recognition of their service to our country, all veterans and active duty military personnel are invited to eat free at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar Restaurants on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2009.

Applebee's launched a pilot program last year on Veterans Day offering free entrees to military service personnel and veterans. Because the response was so overwhelmingly positive, Applebee's is extending the invitation throughout the country this year.

We would appreciate your help in spreading the word.

All U.S. veterans and active duty military with proof of current or former military service will eat free at all Applebee's nationwide on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. For details, visit: www.applebees.com/vetsday

Please don't hesitate to contact them if you have any questions. Even if you are/were not a veteran, if you know any, let them know about this wonderful "thank you" program!

Mmmmm, that's enough to convince me to go desk drawer diving for my tired old blue Navy retirement card. :blond:

Hey, maybe someone back in civilization (read: reasonably populated urban area) can cobble together a Divers in Uniform/vets/crusty old Retirees HH around an Applebee's someplace. Short notice I know, but just typing out loud...

I'm going to dig out my DD214 (discharge papers).....I have an Applebee's within 2 miles of my house! Since I never get Veterans Day off, I may as well get a free meal! :birthday:

Brad & Sam, I only have a group of one! We'll have to take a pic & upload it, so we can have a virtual Applebees meal together! :birthday:

Well the good news is that if you end up in Bagram or Kandahar you may have a good chance of getting to go to applebee's! They've already got a sit down restaurant in Kandahar. And when I left Afghanistan in April Bagram wasn't too far behind. They've already got subways and burger kings and pizza hut. Maybe you can make a happy hour out of one of those. Sometimes I wish I had joined the Air Force... :D

What a great idea!!!

Let's set up virtual HH's. I know we can even do it via the web if we really want to be connected. If you have a wireless card or can get interet at the restaurant...we can make it work. (An employee might even help with access to a wireless router when they hear the idea.)

Diving organization of 6000 members wants to podcast various Veteran's Days Celebrations around the country (world) at APPLEBEE'S celebrating the members of the Armed Forces who have served in our group and in the world.

I think even if small it would be a great way to say hello to our members...connect and start something that SHOULD BE A PRIMARY FOCUS FOR SD as we grow!!!! :tears:

So let's do it? I will try to find the nearest HH in the GSP area and official hold one even if its just me. I'm sure we have members in the area and/or just military personnel we can share the honor with!

So we now have Kansas City, MO and Flemington, NJ and Someplace, SC and who else????

Anyone with military background in the Denver area? I'd love to share a meal with you at Applebee's. It'd be an honor to spend some time with you on Veteran's Day! (If Kansas City were closer I'd join you, Tammy!) Any takers? I work north and live south, so anywhere would be great, just name your place.

Well I don't know if it's because I'm in New Orleans, or because the Applebee's is on "Veterans Memorial Blvd" but we went there for lunch today and you could get NEAR the place. In fact, I had drive by it again at 1400 hrs and the place STILL had a waiting list.

I don't think it will be possible to get NEAR the place tonight for dinner. I think Applebee's may have stumbed on a awesome promotion as no vet is eating alone!

If someone is in the NO area tonight, we are planning on a all night terror program for the French Quarter. Since I've been coming here, I have quite a reputation (and there is another guy in my office that lives here and he is jsut like me.) So between us, walk into any place and ask if "Moose" or "Guzzy" is there or has been there. They'll know who you are talking about.

I hear ya, Moose. I went by at 4:30, and again at 6:00, and could not get in the parking lot. I'm so glad that so many Vets and Active Duty military personnel are taking advantage of this awesome offer! Since I really did not need a free meal, I went to my nearby favorite watering hole and ate with friends at the bar.
