The only wrinkle to that weekend we will have to watch for is that its the final Colorado Rockies homestand of the season against the rival SF Giants.

If the Rockies are out of the playoff picture, then its no big deal. If they are, downtown will be very busy, especially the resturants/bars in the LODO area. Just something to watch out for.

Then we should have our happy hour at the game

Er... if we can get tickets! LOL!

Well, tickets are on sale now with plenty available. The question is how many to buy and how much people want to pay. Price ranges from $4 for the Rockpile to $100 for club or box seats. That's without looking into group tickets, which would probably reduce the cost of non rockpile tickets, but the question then is how many to buy?

Where we did the last downtown Happy Hour, Arapahoe Junction, closed its doors January 1st. The other place we did downtown, Lodos bar & grill is right across from the ballpark.

Not knowing the times of the events, Do we want to be downtown, or how close to the Convention Center do you want to be?

Where I was at happy hour yesterday was at Hacienda Colorado at I25&Colorado on the north side. It seemed very nice There is a Dave & Busters on the south side of the highway which might have a larger room.

For me, I live north, but I think a majority of people live south. I've got some great ideas around my area but I think its out of the way for most.

I don't think Kamala knows for sure if it is going to be at the Convention Center. I would hope that is is but there are other possible venues, like the National Western complex. Hopefully it will be at the convention center, there are certainly a lot more and much better options for a happy hour.

Well, if it ends up at the Broomfield events center, anyone who wants to stay at my place is more than welcome, I only live a couple of miles away!

And if it is...I'll be learning a whole new side of Denver! I seem to travel on only certain routes...anything out of those areas and I've got my street map in hand! LOL!

Ok it will be at the Crown Plaza Convention Center. I'm guessing that is the main convention center.

That's not the Denver Convention Center. Looks like it must be in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. But it is at least downtown and that will give us lots of options for a happy hour location.

After looking on the Crown Plaza Hotel website...I'm not so sure it's the one downtown... there's one out by the airport that has a "Convention Center" so that may be the actual location... more like out in Aurora ... the address on that one is off 40th. I'm not sure what's out that way for HH but that would likely need some drivers and I'd be happy to help with that. The only other Crown Plaza they have on their website is in Colorado Springs...

Let's hope it's not the one out by the airport. If so attendance will be bad. The one downtown has a large meeting space. Hopefully WW can get some details on which one it is. If it's in the Springs I doubt that I would make that trip.

I'm thinking its the one at the airport as well. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza downtown during the Great American Beerfest and I don't remember much of a room there..

I know one time it was at the downtown convention center where A1 had set up a pool where you could try Scuba at the site. I seriously doubt you could do that downtown.

I just checked the website... it will be at the airport Crowne Plaza. We'll have to do some scoping out the area for happy hour possibilities.

Maybe there is something in the Stapleton area that would be a place for a happy hour. I don't think there is much in the area where the hotel is located.

Having something walking distance is the best place for a variety of reasons if at all possible.

1. Parking has been paid for the show (if charged) and so you do not have to hassle with that again.
2. People from the show will more easily drift to the HH if its walking distance than if they have to drive to it.
3. Vendors who typically join us, don't have cars and are stuck at the hotel/convention center. This makes it more difficult for them to join us.
4. Convenience...when I tell people where the HH during the show its easier to say right outside the convention center than it is to try and give directions. (Even harder for me since I don't live here.)

There are always exceptions but 99% of the time we find a place we can walk too from the show and it works out great.

Hopefully we can find something here as well. I'm sure the Crown Plaza has a place...we could use that as our last resort since it will be crowded already. kamala
