Hell fo 80 degree water she needs a drysiut, a fleece and two layers of thermals... I got cold just watching her gear up in Myaguana :angel2:

Wenchie, I gotta teach you how to pack LIGHT! :cool1: all your neoprene adds up.... :thankyou:

Of course, we don't have to pack tons of Tshirts for the group, and contest prizes, and....well, everything but the kitchen sink like you do!

Thank you Bruce! Yes I can...the only drawback to Dominica is the 50# total weight limitations...so you have to rent gear.

I may be wrong, but I wouldn't think that "Executive Platinum" status has that weight limitation. :thankyou:

I certified my niece there, and on her checkout dives, she saw sea horses, frog fish, flying gurnards, juvenile spotted drums, snake eels, jackknife fish, and pristine corals to name a few.

Definitely worth checking out, and Kamala can probably get you a good deal at Castle Comfort Lodge - Dive Dominica.

Plenty of things to do on land as well.

I'll second Dominica - between dives they asked if we wanted to go 'in the hot tub'. Turned out to be a rocked off area at the shoreline with hot water bubbling up out of the sand. Some of the guys on our trip did the hike to Boiling Lake - it's literally boiling hot. We did afternoon hikes to waterfalls, a night out dancing at a local bar, whale watching, etc. It was a lovely week.

50# weight limit for all bags? Maybe that policy has been put in place since I went but I took my normal two bags. -You know - clothes in one and my gear bag at 49.5 lbs. :cool2:

Stop packing 25 lbs of lead weight and you will be fine. :lmao:

Not to get stuck on Dominica as your travel destination, but I just talked with an AA representative (no, not that AA :cool2: ), and she said that because Dominica is serviced by American Eagle, every traveler regardless of platinum status is limited to two free checked bags totaling less than 70 pounds and one carry on less than 40 pounds.

Hope that this information dispels any nasty weight restriction rumors, because Dominica is a primo dive destination.

I'm READY for another trip to Dominica!!!

Maybe the Wench can set something up for 2011 - oops, there's another thread for future trip planning.

Maybe one of the mods can insert a link to that thread here: http://www.singlediv...p?showforum=255

Did I mention that Castle Comfort does whale and dolphin watching trips with a 95% success rate?

I stayed at Castle Comfort Lodge too and was pleased. It's not a fancy place but (I believe) it's a small family run place and they were very accommodating. The dive staff was great. It's certainly worth considering.

I have been working on 2011 so this is a great discussion. Let's move it to the other threads so we don't TOTALLY derail the original discussion. :-D

Your information is not the allowance that is listed on the American Airlines website. See here under "Other International travel" And even then it is not clearly listed.

You will get 2 bags at <50 lbs each + your carryon @ <40 lbs. The bag fees are waived bag for elites.

Good luck.
