Just back from my first Las Vegas vacation.

Won enough in Vegas to cover my trip cost, fly home First Class and have enough left over to cover New Years hotel and party costs here. So happy camper, C'est moi...

Most excellent trip and well worth the time away. Would post some pics, but the fun places did not allow cameras. :teeth:

I have had trips like that. So it does happen.

The key is the know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk way..and know when to run!

Nope, no joke at all. :) Won a nice bundle. Three jackpots in six pulls then another hundred for the fourth which never happened. :P Triple 7 slots.

$1 per pull. Found out later if I had been playing $1 x 3 I could have won $2K each jackpot. (sigh)

I gave up LV gambling, while playing single deck BJ; drew a 6 card 21 [w/a face card, last hit] when the dealer had to hit a fifteen - ending in a 'push'. Now my bets are confined to the NYSE, and I hedge all dive trips.

No doubt it was the luck of the 'kilt'. Congratulations!!!

I budgeted $20 a day for slots so I never risked anything more. I chose machines that were near bar / casino entrances or heavily trafficked areas. I noticed that within the first 3-5 pulls you would win a moderate amount. ($20 - $80) I think to encourage you. The best payout I got was $286. If you cashed out then, you were ahead and that is what I did. If you kept pulling you eventually lost it. I won amounts in that range over a few days and it added up fairly quickly. Less than 5 min per time.

I had practiced Texas Holdem for nine months only to get there and find Pai Gow and Three Card poker variants which I did not understand so I did not risk anything. If you could find a Texas Holdem table it was either full or closed. No middle ground. Suppose that is a good thing as my poker skills are untested in real life and I could have lost all my ill-gotten gains. :)
