If you have ever dove in Trinidad and Tabago please let us know. Should we add this venue to our upcoming dive calendar?

Have you done any research here and would like to share it?

If you have dove here would you dive it again?

Did you dive via land based or liveaboard and why?

Tobago, Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!
My adventure trip of last year. A island I had not visited. On my radar for awhile. Finally found a group from Denver that I latched onto the week after Thanksgiving, which allowed me to travel on my own from Boston to Crown Point (AP), Tobago on Thanksgiving day(always glad to get away for T-Day). I dived the Crown Point area on Friday and Sat. with a operator affiliated with a mid size modest motel ( I stayed at a nearby guesthouse). Crown Point area very friendly and safe. The fastest drift diving I've ever done.

Saturday afternoon I tranfer over mountainside roads about 1 hour to the NE countryside village of Speyside, where I checked into the Manta Lodge and awaited the Denver group. Speyside very small fishing/diving village with about 4 resorts and 3 non resort resturants. All live boating in the off shore islands area, some pinnicle diving, unfortanatly no manta sightings during my visit and the weather could have been a lot more sun with less rain. This island is rain forest right in back of hotel. Lots of birding and hiking nearby.

Transit for me from Boston to Trinada via AA was easy with a cheap puddle jumper over to Tobago all in 1 day. The group from Denver did same but got in about 7pm. I can provide more details if neeeded.

Trinada from what I understand has some diving but crime is a issue there.

I think I have a trip report somewhere and also a video report.

Just from what I've heard, I think the diving in Tobago is better than that in Trinidad. I did a stop over to and from Grenada/Grenadines trip in Dec 08 and I cannot recommend the place I stayed in Trinidad. That place was where my credit card info was stolen (only time I used that card). I'm not sure I'm interested in either place though. Just my 2 cents.
