UPDATES...AND CHECK OUT THE AMAZING CRITTERS WE'LL SEE...:

Posted Image

Patience and persistence are paying off. Our trip WILL be at Costa de Cocos HERE. We will fly in and out of Cancun airport so airfare will be very reasonable. (PLEASE NOTE: We will have a long commute to this pristine eco resort so we'll have "arrive no later than" times and "depart no sooner than" times. The resort's all inclusive pkg only contained 2 dives per day and our pkg will have 3 boat dives daily PLUS a day trip to Chinchorro if I can finalize the details. (Since the spots are limited we may just add the day trip to Chinchorro as an optional dive on a first come first served basis.) I'll have final pricing by Monday but we are looking at either a 17 dives, hotel, transfers, plus breakfast pkg for approx $1300 OR a 17 dives, hotel, transfers all inclusive with all meals and drinks included...for $1625 BOTH OF WHICH WILL BE LESS THAN THE NORMAL $1650 for only 12 dives!!! AND...if we get 20 divers on the trip we'll ALL qualify for an extra discount per person! :wakawaka:

This resort gets great reviews and we'll be able to spear lionsfish for those who wish to do so! AND we'll be the only divers...the reef is only 10 minutes from the resort! :cool1:

So stay tuned and tell your friends...this is a great deal to a very PRISTINE PLACE!!!

Check here for cool pictures from the area... and enjoy!!!

Yes we have found an all inclusive week for $1650 and I'm working to reduce this amount for those who do not wish alcohol but we are still working those details out. They should be completed by this weekend so I can post this next week.

We'd fly in and out of Cancun and travel to Xcalak staying at Costa de Cocos

They have an all inclusive package with:

7 Day All-Inclusive Diving Trip Package
Round-Trip Ground Transportation from Cancun or Chetumal Airport.
7 Nights Lodging with 6 Days of Two Tank Dives per Day,
Private Cottage with bathroom and shower, Daily Maid Service,
all Meals, Open Bar, Marine Park Fees, and taxes are all included.
only $1650.00 per person, based on two per room, all divers, minimum 4 people.

NOT included:
night dives
extra dives
gratuities for the staff

Hey gang...I have found a place in Mexico that is an eco resort but has amenities. Its very pristine and we'll be the ONLY divers. The resort has 16 rooms only for a max of 32 people. Most of their clients are fisherman so the diving remains very new and unspoiled. We'll fly in and out t of Cancun and then travel by bus to the resort. I am finalizing pricing now but an all inclusive including alcohol and sodas is $1650. I am working on an ala carte pricing option if it makes sense. A significant part of the price is the transport to and from the airport.

We will need to establish *no later than* arrival time and *no earlier than* departure times in order to facilitate a 4-5hr drive each way.

Stay tuned...fabulous one of a kind diving on the way.... -ww

We will look to add a day of diving in the Cenotes and perhaps dive with the human figures Cancun is now well known for as well. Air in and out of Cancun is very reasonable so it offsets the high price of liveaboard diving in general and the high cost of air travel in particular.

So save the dates and stay tuned...

Put me down as interested. Ski season should be winding down or mostly over and I'll be in need of a trip by then.

Chinchorro sounds interesting.

Sadly, the Moondiver was unable to get a permit to dive Chinchorro (had been operating under temporary permit) and Explorer has cancelled the October cruises. I was so looking forward to getting back into the water ... This is the second liveaboard and fourth dive trip canceled on me this year!

Update: I asked to be rolled over to the following month, but they are not planning to sail. Consequently, I will not be able to fulfill my promise to give a trip report. Note: Substitute options offered were Saba (did it July this year their yacht) or T&C (been there, too, more than once).

It is not uncommon to encounter these kinds of start up problems. In fact it is SOP for creating a new itinerary especially in the dive industry. I have no concerns that a trip in April will encounter any issues. Trying to be the first to any destination has it upside and its pitfalls. We prefer to let others do the missionary work.

OTOH...perhaps Crag they have confused you with a banana and you know how deathly afraid they are of bananas on dive boats... I'm just saying... ;)

p.s. perhaps with all your rescheduling issues it is a blessing you did not book with us after all! ;)

I've that the reason for no bananas on board is the stevedores used to carry banana's onboard but they would have spiders on them that would scatter and bite both the stevedores and the crew. While not fatal, it was painful to have banana's onboard.
