I can confirm that there is solid wi-fi at the dive lodge (Castle Comfort). My Verizon cell phone didn't work, but I understand that GSM 900/1900 MHz phones will work. The local carrier is "Digicel"--I'm sure you can get a prepaid phone from them to use inexpensively while there. Kamala will also likely respond if hers worked while there--I don't know what she has.

UPDATE ON WIFI AND CELLULAR:
From the Resort...
Cell coverage across the island is excellent, (except in areas like the Rainforest and National Park mountains). The cost however is very high via Digicell.
All rooms have WiFi, however, there are some rooms which receive the signal stronger than others because of the thickness of the walls that we must build for earthquake purposes. I had a group of journalist here some months ago covering an International cricket game, all using Wifi in their room and I did not have anyone complain about it.
