WOW!!! The diving has been AMAZING!!!

Everyone arrived safely and sadly the first 2 divers have left to go home already. Joanne aka globefish and Andrea aka babykorms were able to sneak down early and the resort accommodated them by giving them the pkg price despite staggering their dates a bit. We were thrilled they could join in the fun! Jim aka ScienceTeacher will be the next to depart on Thursday while the group will depart on Saturday. Orcaman and I will depart the 5th of June...allowing for a last minute birthday celebration as well as an early one in the case of Joan aka MetriRN. Joanne aka globefish had her 50th dive on her last day of diving and her last dive of the trip! We did Champagne where the bubbles escape from the ground and saw HUGE squid, a huge jawfish, seahorses, turtle, and more!

WOW!!! Did I mention the diving has been amazing!!! I'll post a few pics this morning...nothing edited nor touched up...just as I shot them. Wish you all were here...you just gotta see it to believe it! kamala

NICE, How deep was the seahorse w/ a Nikon without housing in background? is it still water tight? Again NICE JOB to all the photogs!!!!

We have had almost a different seashore and frog fish each day!

ALL ARE SHALLOW!!! Nothing below about 55 ft.

I just did my 3rd 1hr plus night dive... first was 65 min via boat and the 2nd 80 min via shore and the one last night was 97 min via shore. We saw 2-3 batfish on 2 of them... TONS of crabs... octopus...I saw 4 squid of which I got pics and video of 2... tons of eels and tons of puffers. On our first night shoredive we saw several king eels... the kind that are buried in the silt... wild!

The diving here is beyond description... it is what the Caribbean used to look like... the corals are healthy....the sponges are huge and healthy and the fish life is like an aquarium EVERY WHERE YOU LOOK!

Yesterday was our last pkg dive...to give you some perspective we had a total of 18 divers... 3 have left so far and one leaves today. Out of the 14 remaining...11 are doing an extra 2 tank dive this morning for $86 since all flights leave at 3pm. The diving is not cheap...but you get what you pay for...it is unbelievable.

Several quotes so far...

"Its sensory overload." - From a very experienced and seasoned diver.

"Now I'm spoiled...I can't dive the Caribbean again unless its a massive good deal otherwise there is no reason to dive anywhere in the Caribbean but here." - From a very experienced and seasoned diver.

"This place is so amazing I'm coming back next year!". - From a diver with over 300 dives.

And the list of quotes go on...but I'll let the divers tell you more when they get home and are dreaming about Dominica again!

Quick note, if you dont already know this:

1. There's a departure tax of USD 23 cash at airport.

2. Once you enter security, there's nothing to eat at the terminal except vending machines. There's a Deli called Orchard Bar outside where you can get sandwiches etc. So, eat there or before. The AA flights at 3 pm and it too doesn't have any food.

3. There was a notice abt 2nd checked bag payment. I had only 1, so didn't take much notice. Pls check for yourself.

Most of the group has left...Grace and Ken leave today. The air was quite a bit cheaper by leaving on Tuesday so Larry and I are staying a few more days to enjoy Paradise a bit longer. I can hardly wait until the next trip and I'm still on this one. I plan to do 4 dives today... 2am, 1 afternoon and 1 transition dive. Then two more on Monday and its time to dry out the gear and close the logbook on this one.

In the meantime I've been trying to upload some of my photos and I'm finally making some progress. Here are a few of the octopus shots that I took... notice they are not perfect but the subject matter is!
