No. I wore mine out of habit. You'd get waterlogged before you were narc'ed. If you want to be a good diver, just bring an ordinary watch and a table. Look at your watch before going down to the dock, and after you get your gear off. Assume 25 feet for the entire time, and you'll still never be restricted on your dive time.

General advice on taking a class while at Athens. I would do it if there rather than with the LDS. I would highly recommend my LDS, the Nitrox and rebreather instructors were great and I learned a lot. The problem is that they were done at ... oh what's that lakes name? Clear Springs, I think. Near Terrel, maybe. Anyway, the lake has a nasty thermocline at around 20 feet. It goes from 70 something to 62. I wore a wetsuit and was still cold. You don't know me yet, but it has to be pretty darn cold for me to need one.

Just an unrelated note to the locals, but not worth starting a new thread.

The WW2 exhibit at the State Fair is really awesome. It's mostly a travelling exhibit, with the real stuff. Uniforms from everyone, guns, a few genuine staff cars and field trucks. Blow-ups of the most famous newspaper photos. I cried a bit, and got pissed off a bit, but then I'm easily effected.

Athens boast the biggest living Catfish in the World caught by Rod and Reel. you can see it in the state fishery. 122lbs Swear !!!

So come to Dive and camp and on your surface interval check it out.

Well fingrabber and I stopped by Athens to do some checking into fun stuff we can do for a Halloween bash! Seems we can do a treasure hunt...a scavenger hunt...some really fun pumpkin relays and carving contests...of course there is the traditional halloween costume contest and balloon games that are more fun then should be allowed!

Stay tuned for more details...who else is joining us?

I had to miss the last Athens event, so I am really looking forward to this one! I will definitely be there! May need some help with camping equipment, as I am not sure if I can get my hands on a tent. I will be driving down Friday night...what's this about a Thursday happy hour? Bev

Ooooooo..... Sonny doing a fish fry?? YUMMM, well I'm there for sure, but not 100% of when I will get there on Friday, may have to work then come out later, but that's up in the air at this point. Also I may be bringing a non-diver with me who has an interest in the sport...

Sounds like fun on the details for the weekend also. Oh and I will be sure to bring my extra tent if anyone needs to use it.

Okay, spoke with Jerry - Dejah's hearthrob she calls "Whiskers," and we're on. :wakawaka: We'll drive thru the night Friday, get there in time for breakfast, stay at the motel, drive back Sunday. NOAA Flying After Diving charts say it's okay to fly after a few hours surface interval from a 20 foot deep pond, but we'll just motor ourselves.

Jer will need to rent a tank. Can you handle taht, Deb? :P

If the new gal from Midland doens't decide we're crazy, we'll pick her up in Abeline. She may need a tent to bunk in? Y'all talk her into it, we'll bring her. :elf:

Yeah I know: I've been branded a non-group person - doesn't play well with others. I am so upset. Posted Image Let me know if you want to have some fun, without the drama - I'm good for that.

Sonny,

I think a lock is only prudent, since the last event went something like this:

us: " hello, Ma'am, we need to check your cooler"
her: "my cooler!!; what do you expect to find in there???"
us:" well, you know, the usual:peppers, onions, and potato salad!!"
