I dive with Captain JT a bit and he has a rule than no one can dive below 160 ft regardless of their certification without first doing an acquaintance dive. This guy want's to dive the EM Clark which happens to be on my list of dives to do. The Clark is a very deep dive known for sometimes wicked current. She rests in 250fsw.

At those depths, it's only reasonable to require an "acquaintance dive", IMHO. Glad Captain JT sticks to his rules!

I know Capt JT very well and he has dove with my husband in the past. And JT has dove with me off Morehead City. This is a very wise decision and OTWDiver also requires the same and more when wanting to dive the Lodge, Girl's Camp and other sites in the 300 ft range.

Sounds total commonsense. I've never taken anyone deep here without a sequence of familiarisation dives. I would be very wary of an operator who didn't do this.

Thanks for explaining!

I made the mistake of watching it at work. I laughed so hard that the guy in the next office actually knocked on my door to see what was the matter.

So I showed it to him and he was, like, huh??? What's fo funny? :lmao:

I guess you have to be a tech/wreck diver and read The Deco Stop to appreciate it. And then if you know anything about the history of Gary Gentile and JT you might even bust a gut. I thought it was one of the funniest diving related videos I've seen in a long time.

It's just delivered in such a dead-pan way, that unless you understand the references you won't get that it's funny! No wonder your co-worker didn't get it....he's probably started rumors about you 'losing your touch' as we speak....

I wouldn't be suprised! But that rumor gets circulated so often I think it has lost its effect. ;)
