Well, i offered and got no takers on a saturday dive, two outstanding dives
and the crew at parrot island scuba was friendly and accomodating. I did
the ancient mariner which is at about 70 feet with some nice penetration
opportunities and a great reef drift dive with great blue water and viz
over 80 !

Sounds like a great dive! Unfortunately you didn't give me enough time to be able to join you!

On the other hand...we are getting more members from your neck of the woods...or should I say ocean...so getting more dive buddies should be easier in the future. And if you wanted to help with that process...let me know!

Glad you got a good trip in. So should we do diving in that area on one of our future SD trips? What was water temps like if vis was over 80ft????? And what kind of wreck is she? -ww

Hey cutie...WHEN are you going to post a picture? Do we need to use one from the Florida Regional and post it for you????? :teeth:

Kevin,

If I lived in the area I would have joined you. Sadly I must travel 2-3 hours to get any decent diving, and it almost always requires an overnight......its times like that I miss the Channel Islands (but not the cold water).

Wish there were more local NC divers to dive with

Hey Linda...I drive 2 hours to dive in fresh water...at least you are diving in some of the BEST DIVING IN THE WORLD in 2-3 hours. Sometimes I wish I'd never been transferred from Raleigh to Dallas! Oh well....at least I get to dive there lots during the season!

There are a number of Raleigh divers near you and some really awesome ones just north of you like Wreck Goddess! -ww

Kamala,

Can you get yourself transferred back or are you entrenchied on you own business' now?

I was transferred to Raleigh when I was in telecom working for Ericsson. Several years ago (after working for two start up dot.com companies and 3 downsizing then 9-11) I decided to work for myself. I bit the bullet and decided to change careers opting to study food and nutrition which is currently my new profession and I something I love!

Of course my other real love has been diving and so when I got transferred to Dallas, I started Red Wet and Blue my wreck and shark diving business...er...hobby on steriods...so that I could share the awesome diving of Morehead City and NC with as many people as possible. As you know I go there a lot and just love how the wrecks have become reefs for so many fish and critters. SD's first trip was actually a RWB and ScubaBoard trip that I did for all singles last January that just took on a life of its own.

As for staying in Dallas...my sister and I just got my mom moved here so I'm here for awhile! But I'm not sure I'm here permanently.

If I moved someplace else...Raleigh, Goldsboro or Morehead City area would be my first choice!

OK, lets make a deal. If you stop telling me how to dive, I'll stop going down to the bus station at 2am to slap d***s out of your mouth.

hi kamala, the water temps are trying to duck under 80 and i'm sure they
will be below that soon. The wreck "ancient mariner" is a smaller vessel that
at one time had been converted to a restaurant as it was dry docked on the miami
river, after an unsuccessful attempt it was turned over to those who sunk her
as an artificial reef. It's a frequently visited wreck in the area but i find it very
diver friendly and small enough to get comfortable with the entire vessel in one dive !

Glad you had a good dive, Kevin- thanks for stopping by on your way home. Walter, Mike & I had an OK dive here at my house-15 feet of visbility at best but going to lunch with Walter & MaryAnn afterwards was great. My neighbor Greg, his friend Mitch & I went out today with about the same viz. Still, we were diving & I'm thinking about sneaking in a quick one in the AM before work... :teeth:

kevin glad you had a good dive...I had to take the weekend off of diving, so I am glad somebody got to get wet.
Marvel, sounds like you had a good time despite the low vis. Better to be wet than dry!

hey marvel, enjoyed chatting with you again....I hope your reef gets
back to normal for you and all the other regular divers there, it just
hasn't seemed the same since our terrible storms. Let me know when
your up for another boat dive, perhaps the "hydro-atlantic" ...even
deeper than the "guy harvey", we'll go with bigger tanks and
stay real close !
