This is something at least I feel I have the bare minimum for, and would really need to build up for doing some pre trip dives, doing some tech drills prior to going out on the boat.

But how many dive boats have you been on that have their own chamber on board?

Yup, just read that also. Seems like maybe the surrounding Marshal Islands land based diving might not be so tech though. How do you read it George.

George when you say serious tech trip 'splain me! Is it something SD can do or just a small subset of SD?

Meaning you need to be tech certified..

1.A Qualification rated to 50mts depth issued by a recognised dive training agency
2.Advanced nitrox qualification to use mixes up to 100% oxygen issued by a recognised dive training agency

So that would be a small subset, IMHO..

That's true, along with the surfing trips. But I would think if you going to travel there, you would want to do the bikini islands. I'd think that places like Fiji or Wakatobi would be a better alternative as a non tech related trip for those type of $$$.

The Bikini Atoll diving charter lists the minimum equipment and qualification requirements. It is quite specific. For example, the hangar of the USS Saratoga is at 130 FSW. If you want to enjoy your dive, you'll need the tech gear and training.

The good news is, you get lots of practice at Truk Lagoon before doing Bikini Atoll. You also have the time to put another dollar in.

In no particular order -

Bikini Atoll, Wakatobi, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea

Canary Islands – Tenerife (main island of the group)

Coiba National Park (west coast of Panama)

South Africa & white tip shark diving

Might return to Isla Cocos if the price is good.

So many places to go...............

LET'S DIVE!

Still getting my head wrapped around the next 24 months! Posted Image

That said, off the top of my head, I would still say Cocos is #1 for me. Would go to Capetown to dive with the Great Whites. Been to False Bay & Seal Island 3 times & never got wet & am overdue to return to SA. Would also throw in the Maldives (though I know you were just there). Socorro.

We should hurry and dive the USS Saratoga before it collapses too much.

Always wanted to go to Maldives. Why do I always want the expensive airfares?
