Questions - Barbarretta $199 is mentioned for this trip but it's not on the sign up template. However, on the template there is a "trip to the west end". Are these two separate activities? If these are separate activities can you elaborate on the west end trip. Also where do I sign up for Barbaretta? The accountant said my credit was applied to Nitrox and a night dive. Heck, I'm hoping I'll be a lucky winner of a discount so don't want to be committed on where to apply my credit yet. Hoping that's not a problem. Also, if there are other takers, I could be interested in the Wreck Class. Looking forward to October and meeting everyone!

I forgot to add it to the template...you can just post you want to go and we'll create a master list and add it to your template as you sign up. Its REALLY A MUST DO!!!

Accountants do not like to have money hanging out there. Since the free nitrox etc will be drawn in Roatan as part of the festivities you will get a check to refund you if you win.

So you nee to apply your credit for anything you wish to do now as winners are drawn in Roatan and all extras must be locked in well before the trip since the trip could be quite large. Please understand that if we only ran one trip a year we could be quite flexible but with so many trips and only one accountant...we must lock things in early.

Lost my access to the Barbarretta thread. Did a double post and tried to delete one and the hole thread and access was deleted. Could one of the mods or Kamala send me another email and restore my access?

Well Doug this is a problem. I checked and sure enough one of the buttons you clicked while in the PM Thread was to Delete the PM. Once this happens the system will not allow us to add you back again; click (only once) the attached screen shot.

A system flaw perhaps but intended to protect member privacy. It is the reason we post the big red lettered "do not delete this PM" notice at the very top. /> I have full Admin privileges in the system and even that is insufficient to override the IPB system code. As the Trip Coordinator for Roatan I will make a note to ensure you are passed the link and password to the Special Discussion (SD) Forum for the Roatan trip when that Forum is opened, and then try to check periodically that issues in the PM thread that might affect or interest you are posted as trip SD Forum topics to keep you in the loop.

P.S. The reason you are creating duplicate PM as well as topic posts is because you are double clicking the "Add Reply" (or in the PM thread, "Add Post") button. HTML buttons require only one click to activate. I know many Windows users, myself included, are guilty of double clicking these "one click only" buttons. I have been the one deleting your previous double posts, it is part of my daily system patrols to clean that sort of stuff up.

Ain't that the truth! Message Boards i.e. Forums are OLD technology...replaced now by facebook, google groups etc. However we are old...10 years old this year and we are poor...a dive club on steroids relying exclusively on volunteers and donations so we can keep our trip prices low and run as many trips as we do.

That being said to address your question specifically....

1. We do not own the software...we license it. So we can't change it...we can only request the developers change it and we have...MANY TIMES!!!

2. We can change to another software but ten years of history will be lost and truthfully there is nothing better out there.

3. We can do some workarounds... and that is what we are working on this year in celebration of our ten year anniversary... we hope to have a new booking system that will help make the booking part easier...communication with so many people will ALWAYS BE A CHALLENGE because no matter what you use...someone will be confused...or not like it...or not get it.

So we do the best we can with what we have until some wealthy benevolent diver comes along and who is a programmer or can pay for a programmer to customize a solution that is uniquely ours.

AHEM....WE NOW RETURN TO REALITY....

And to address your last concern...we may be able to recreate the entire trip PM but that requires re-inputting everything and adding everyone again and well several hours of work on top of many hours of work still needing to be done the first time.

If we are able to redo the trip pm...then this would absolutely be the ONLY TIME because our helpers just aren't paid enough to redo work they've done. If they aren't able to redo the pm you can get ALL the information in the private forums when they open up. And we'll work on opening them up sooner vs later.

A simple solution might be to create a dummy user for Scuba Crab and add that to the message thread as if it was a new sign-up. This would probably work best if Scuba Crab had an alternate e-mail address. Once the trip is over, delete the dummy user.

Yes we can...and Brad is awesome about capturing everything we need to cover all our bases and your extra days etc.
