Any carrier that flies to Bali. So Cathay Pacific, Singapore AIrlines etc. I am talking to an air consolidator about a group flight option.

It would very helpful to get the Bali dates confirmed so we can purchase the roundtrip flights to Bali......... the price of the flights that I have been following on American & Cathy Pacific has gone up over $270.00 in the past two months, and we know the price will keep  going up.

And we still need to pay for the Bali part of the trip, and the flights to Wakatobi......BUT WE GET TO GO DIVING!

Bali can be as cheap as $100 per day or as expensive as you like. I usually estimate $450-600 total with diving and staying at a relatively nice place.

I do not know the exact dates just yet but suspectyt them to be approx Oct 7th depart, arrive Oct 9th with int'l dateline, then be in Bali for 3 days and depart for Wakatobi Oct 12th.

I am trying to get this locked in asap. Thank you!

Tim, I was looking at airfares yesterday on Kayak and saw that fares on China Air, Cathay Pacific and Singapore are running approx. $850 LAX - DPS. Looks like maybe air won't be such a killer...

It will be if I don't get the Bali part lined up. Hoping to hear final details soon and/or if we have an air contract. Thank you all... almost dug out with the help of my friends... you all are the best and you know who you are! :respect:

As an FYI on flights, I was looking for about a month, and was finding prices pretty consistent around $930.00 on one of the
Chinese airlines. The times didn't fit into my schedule, so I was left looking at other options that were around $150.00 more.
One day I found flights on Cathay Pacific for $970.00, so I took them. Those flights were back up around $1200.00 the next day. I recommend doing a daily search to try and catch a brief drop in prices, unless the Chinese airlines flights work with your schedule. I initially planned on spending 4 days in Bali, doing some diving. My sister decided to join me there for a few days, so I booked a driver for a few days, and we will be doing some land tours instead. I found hotel prices ranging from about $30.00 a night on up to big price luxury places. I think I settled on something for around $70-80 a night and it includes breakfast. I head to San Diego March 7 for a few days, then leave LAX at 1AM on the 11th. I think I get back home on the 30th. I will post a report when I return, to give people a better idea of Bali options for anyone that might want to do some land excursions while there.

QUICK QUESTIONS:

For those looking at this trip and planning our 3 day Bali extension here is what I need to know:

Length of Stay...please tell us how long?

1. Do you want a 3 nite or 3 day add-on? Estimated pricing around $500-600.

  • A 3 nite 2 day option would give us 1 full day of diving and 1-1.5 days of touring and sightseeing. The arrival day will give us a nice drive around the country side and a chance to see the local area we stay in. We could do 2 dives in the morning on the 2nd day and 1 in the afternoon. The third day could be touring and sightseeing of temples, Ubud, etc for which Bali is renown. This also gives us a day for gear to dry and then fly to Wakatobi on the 4th day.
  • A 3 day 4 nite option would give us 2 days of diving so we could see the famous and beautiful wreck and possibly mantas and possibly mola molas in as well as 1 day of touring to allow gear to dry.

On AIR CONTRACT...please tell us yes or no on a contract and which carrier/travel dates:

Published air is running about $920 + taxes on Singapore Airlines. HOWEVER the taxes are the killer. You only see them when you go to book and they run $634.50 making the total air $1554.50.  We can get a GROUP RATE of $1384.50 which will be locked in as soon as I commit to at least 10 spots using the air. One day of the ticket has to be fixed to be considered a group contract HOWEVER you can extend the backend by doing another layover in Bali to do a couple of days of sightseeing and/or diving on the way home. WE MUST HAVE ONE FIXED DATE WHICH WOULD BE THE FRONT END AND WE NEED 10 PEOPLE TO DO THE CONTRACT to get this rate. The rates will go up and I am looking at Korean airlines who tend to be a bit cheaper but have a less favorable travel schedule and/or planes/food as Singapore Air is usually the best.

Singapore Airlines October 9, 2015 Los Angeles - Singapore (via
Narita) 345pm - 3am (11 OCT)
Singapore Airlines October 11, 2015 Singapore - Denpasar
820am - 11am

Singapore Airlines October 26, 2015 Denpasar - Singapore (via
Narita) 945pm - 1220am
Singapore Airlines October 27, 2015 Singapore - Los Angeles
920am - 1255pm

Published fare is $1,554.50 per person (Base fare $920 + taxes of $634.50)

Rate for our group is Base fare $750 (Friday departure) + taxes of
$634.50 per person = total fare $1,384.50 per person

We can arrange a dayroom at Ambassador Transit Hotel October 11 for 5
hours if the group wants a room and also a dayroom for 8 hours on October
27.

Possible Optional POST TRIP Touring Add-on if desired that we can set up:

For a 3 night post Bali package it is recommend that people do 2 nights in Ubud and 1
night at the beach where you could add some more diving or just experience the culture.

If you want a little more adventure you could move each night to a different region of Bali and experience some of ALL Bali has to offer:

Day 1 : Denpasar - Pupuan - Lovina
Tanah LotDrive westwards to Mengwi to visit the Royal Family Temple of
Taman Ayun. Proceed to Tanah Lot sea temple and further to Pupuan, passing
beautiful terraced rice fields, coffee and clove plantations. Continue to
Lovina beach in northern Bali where you will stay for one nights. In the
afternoon visit Singaraja, once the capital of Bali. Here we visit typical
temples such as Pura Beji, Pura Medue Karang and the grand new temple of
Jagatnatha. Overnight at Puri Bagus Lovina.

Day 2 : Lovina - Bedugul - Ubud (B)
LovinaThe northern part of Bali, especially Lovina beach, is very famous
for its dolphin attraction proved by the Dolphin Statue. You can't say
that you have been to North Bali before you experience this attraction.
Enjoy an exciting morning boat tour to watch the cute marine mammals in
their natural habitat. Please note that there is a 90% dolphin sightseeing
success rate, however, the dolphin sight can't be guaranteed.

After breakfast, we leave for sightseeing to Gitgit waterfall and Ulun
Danu Temple at Lake Bratan, fruit-flower market at Candikuning. Next we
visit Ubud, where most family home have their own painting gallery. Watch
artists at work producing detailed scenes of everyday Balinese life.
Overnight at Pertiwi Resort & Spa.

Day 3 : Ubud - Kintamani - Candidasa (B)
KintamaniAfter breakfast depart to Kintamani, a mountain district famous
for its magnificent view of Lake Batur and the active Batur Volcano, and
then Besakih, Bali's largest temple complex located on the lower slope of
Mount Agung. On to Putung where we can view the beautiful blue Indonesian
ocean and the southern part of Bali, visit the unique Tenganan village,
protected for centuries from the outside world by its surrounding walls,
maintaining its ancient pre-Hindu customs. Late afternoon, transfer to
your hotel. Overnight at Puri Bagus Candidasa

Day 4 : Candidasa - Denpasar (B)
Goa LawahDrive to Goa Lawah "The Bat Cave Temple" one of the sacred
temples in Bali inhabited by thousands of Bats, then visit the old
Courthouse of Kertagosa with its fascinating ceiling murals. We continue
to Kamasan, a village renowned for paintings which portray the good and
bad consequences of our deed. The theme of the paintings has been inspired
by Old Javanese literary classics like Ramayana and Mahabrata epics. The
trip continues to your hotel or to airport.

October 7th is the earliest I can begin travel, so whatever pre-trip tour to Bali that will fit within the schedule is OK with me. The more diving the better.

Singapore airlines is great, but I prefer to earn the miles with Cathay Pacific and OneWorld partners if the contract price is only a few hundred dollars different from the price I can book on my own.

Very interested in the Post trip add on for 3 or 4 days

REALLY looking forward to this trip!
