The Damaii II got their a/c fixed! Heard so many positive things about this boat. I would be interested depending on the route for the trips snd would like to see Crendawashe Bay (spelling?) Included. 18 days won't be enough to dive Raja
Hi Que -
Trying to pick out an exact route for each trip is difficult, but usually trips to Cenderwasih Bay [if Sorong is on the beak of the 'Bird's Head' pointing west, then the bay forms the back of the head & neck - to the east] are separate trips. The southern boundary of Raja Ampat is considered to be the Misool area, the northern boundary is the equator. On my trip, Mar. 2013, the most easterly point of travel was Sorong harbor, the trip began with a late afternoon check dive in the mouth of the harbor, overnite we travelled to the Misool area, where we stayed for 4 days, before heading north for Aljui Bay [the northern most point 130.15.423E, 00.11.328S] where we spent the final 5 days diving the west and southern side of Waisai, the north side of Dampier Strait.
You would think with such a large area to dive, you might never see another liveaboard, but one day in the Misool area I counted 8 liveaboards!! Much of the area around Misool Eco Resort, is controlled by the resort, the boats are required to check in with the resort, and they decide where & when you dive. There were 3 boats moored in Aljui Bay, the day we spent there. I've overheard conversations between cruise directors, trying to work together so each could take a turn at coveted sites.
I've spent a total of 30 days diving in Raja Ampat, I'd love to dive more, but I've got other locations on my bucket list [it's as bad as my ex-wife's to-do list, it just keeps growing!!!].
