Funny how you will not see much of that on the national news, they prefer to report the bad things that happen and not the good things that we have accomplished for that country. How many schools that were built, how many hospitals we rebuilt, how many towns that never had running water and now do and ,ect... What people fail to realize is that the WMD's where there and now they cannot be found. Myself, I would tend to be very wary on where they are and who has control of them.

Awesome post Jamie, thanks for sharing!

And as Kamala already said so graciously, thanks to our fighting forces all around this globe. Each day the world moves one step closer to unity, despite the pessimistic ramblings of sensationalists scrounging for a ratings victory.

God bless our military, the United States and the people of Iraq.

As one who has been against this intervention since before it started, I must admit I am pleased to hear of the turnout and the enthusiasm expressed by the Iraqis who voted. It will still be a rocky (Iraqi?) road, but I hope they can overcome the obstacles and establish a stable government. And I hope our government accepts the will of the Iraqi people (whatever that turns out to be).

Again, I have been against the governmental policy which sent our men and women there but I am proud of what the military personnel have done.

That was a great post from the Iraqi perspective; we need more people like that to bring peace to the country. The Friday night before the elections we had a large high order detonation close by and numerous fire fights around Baghdad. Those lasted throughout the night; with a mix of traces streaking throughout the night. The Saturday before the elections more isolated fire fights and some mortars, not to bad. The Sunday came and Baghdad was relatively quite with some attacks here and there. Then the UK Herc went down in the desert. My condolences go out to the families of all who perished.

But in big picture, the Iraqi people went out to vote and their security forces actually provided security! That was a major step, but many more need to be taken. Now, with the election over, maybe the National Assembly will be able to establish a constitution which everyone will agree upon and then we can begin to draw down our forces. But it’s a start.
