The tail end is down on the deck. The nose is up. You take a band and put it around a third of the way back from the nose, around the body of the scooter and with low profile loop handle. You just hold the handle, facing forward on the boat, while standing on the platform, leash on. When you step back into the water, you pull the scooter in with you, let go of the the handle and grab the handles at the stern of the scooter. Away you go!
Ok, I understand what you're talking about. The "better" scooters (e.g. my UV18) have the "handle" already there.
It'd work off a platform, but definitely wouldn't on some boats. Makes sense if the configuration works...
As for reboarding with a scooter, trying to carry it and climb a latter has to be, uh, "interesting". I don't see how you can manage that one..... but always willing to watch and learn!
With hot pickups (which we don't do often around here) for obvious reasons coordination between the crew at the stern and the fool at the controls is paramount. Running down a scooter is the least of the problems - chewing up a diver is worse :dltears:
