GUARANTEED SHARED OCCUPANCY ON SINGLEDIVERS.COM GROUP TRIPS TO AVOID SINGLE SUPPLEMENTS:
One of SingleDivers.com primary objectives is to eliminate expensive single supplements for our divers. SingleDivers.com will not only guarantee a roommate on a group trip but SingleDivers.com will guarantee a same sex roommate for any group trip that you sign up for at least 45 days in advance of departure for the primary days of the main trip package. For example, if we are running a trip from the 9-16th of the month but allow add-on packages for days prior and day after, SingleDivers.com will guarantee the primary dates of the 9th to 16th that you will not be charged a single supplement and you will be roomed with a same sex roommate. If various other arrival and departure dates are allowed on a trip then it is likely that you'll have a suitable roommate since others will be taking advantage of the additional package offerings as well. However we can not guarantee you a roommate for any optional days. Please use the trip thread to help you find those people and SD will help you with the roomming assignments for all days of the trip as part of our service to you or you can do it yourself. Please note that SingleDivers.com can not guarantee any specific class of service on a trip but we will guarantee a same sex roommate if you sign up at least 45 days in advance.
ROOMING ASSIGNMENTS AND HOW THEY WORK:
SingleDivers.com requests that you fill out a fairly extensive rooming survey (you'll find it and our trip waiver in the subforum called Trip Forms & Docs using the link in my signature below) that helps us to match you with other single or married but buddyless divers. We compare sleeping habits, temperature preferences, personality styles and even early bird and night owl preferences when we do roommate assignments. And as always we work very hard to place you with another compatible roommate(s). We usually do a great job and many people request to be roommates again on future trips. If we don't quite make the right selection then talk to the trip leader and she/he will either swap roommates with you or work to make the selection better. Since the participants in a trip will often change up to the last minute, we do not publish the rooming assignments online. They are however available at the resort/boat when you arrive.
THE "EX" RULE:
While we are not a dating site...our hookups are to tanks...sometimes chemistry happens and relationships happen. Sometimes they last and sometimes they dissipate and sometimes they blow up. If you part on good terms then this rule does not apply. In the case of the latter or if you happen to find SD and you currently have an 'ex' and do not care to travel with them, SingleDivers.com honors a "first signed up is the only member allowed on that trip" rule. Here's how it works... be the first to sign up for and pay the deposit on one of our trips and your ex (we need to know who they are in advance) needs to book another trip. Conversly if you try to sign up for a trip your ex is on and your parting was not friendly (and you have advised us in advance) then you will be asked to find another trip to travel on that your ex has not signed up for and paid her/his deposit. And while this does not happen that frequently...it does come into play. We ask that you refrain from even showing interest in a trip your ex is on but we also know that plans change so we ONLY ENFORCE TRIP SIGN UPS and not the trip 'interested' lists. And no this isn't a chance for you to book directly with the resort/locale to be at the same place as your ex but not technically via SingleDivers.com. (Should this happen you will not be able to dive with our group and if necessary further action may be taken regarding your membership on the site.) Please ask us for more information if you think this rule will be helpful to your situation. And please make sure we know in advance if you plan to apply this rule to your personal situation when attending our trips via email@example.com
1. Effective August 1, 2005 our new legal name is SingleDivers.com LLC
2. Please make all check payments payable to SingleDivers.com LLC.
3. Effective August 15, 2005 all checks will be deposited electronically and/or redeposited electronically if necessary. This will accelerate the clearance time of your funds enabling quicker crediting to your account.
4. As of August 15, 2005: Returned checks are subject to a service fee, as permitted by law. We may electronically collect returned checks, service charges and other applicable charges. For more information, call Collect More Checks 877-521-3513
5. As of Jan 1, 2009 all check payments will be processed via a one time ACH draft to your account. This will be accomplished via our online secure payment gateway. You can easily make your payment directly via our gateway HERE without having to write or mail a check. Please note that this is our preferred method of payment and is the only way to ensure that you have locked into a seat/spot on one of our trips.
6. Please note that you can make Visa or MasterCard payments to SingleDivers.com via our secure online payment gateway HERE. Our system will automatically add a 3% non-cash convenience fee for these types of payments as our prices represent cash discounts already.
a. PLEASE put your screen name, trip name and payment details i.e. nitrox etc on your checks and docs! If you do not have room you need to enclose a summary of what you are paying so it can be recorded properly. If you do not expect to be contacted by accounting to see what you are paying for and how you derived your numbers.
b. PLEASE do not send your checks via registered mail OR require a signature. If I am not in the office to receive them when the mail man arrives it will take a minimum of 3 days before the check is available at the post office. If you need confirmation that I have received your checks beyond posting in the thread, please enclose a note or send a quick pm or email and I'll let you know. Preferably use our payment gateway and you'll receive an order summary and a payment confirmation that we have rec'd your payment. Please note that the SECOND email which says we rec'd your payment or we are sorry your payment did not go thru is the ONLY official system notification that your payment was made. If you do not receive this SECOND generic email they your payment did NOT process regardless of how many order summaries your attempted and received.
c. PLEASE do not combine trip payments or deposits for different trips on one check/payment if at all possible. It is ok to combine payments for the same trip but please tell us you are doing that i.e. 3rd pymt & nitrox enclosed. ENCLOSING A SUMMARY OF EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR HELPS OUR STAFF IMMENSELY!
d. When sending your waiver, please email a scanned copy, fax or mail. When sending your survey please copy into a document to fill out and then email to firstname.lastname@example.org. This allows you to save a tree and the form is 3/4's filled out the next time you travel with us! Plus our trip coordinators can capture the info we need off of it more readily.
e. MEDICAL HISTORY SEALED ENVELOPE& INSURANCE SUMMARY FORM...please bring these with you on your trip and hand to us. Please do not risk mailing them to us. Note: On the medical waiver it asks that you bring a sealed envelope with your medical history, meds and info for a doctor in the event you can not speak for yourself. This will not be opened unless of emergency and will be returned to you when you leave the trip. It is a good idea to put a copy of your passport in this envelope as well. Please put your real name and screen name on the outside.

TRIP INSURANCE VS GAMBLING LOSSES????:
Hey folks if you are gamblers and opt to NOT take out trip insurance during hurricane season or figure nothing will ever happen to you then that is great! However please understand that the resort/dive operator nor SingleDivers.com can help you out with your gambling losses should your bet not pan out.
SD.com accepts a huge amount of liability to fill ALL the trips we run OR EAT THE SPOTS. I can assure you that I have paid plenty of gambling losses this year. But I won't gamble with my life (I have both DAN and DIVE ASSURE for Dive Insurance) and I won't gamble with my trips...(I have the annual policy by DIVE ASSURE which covers ALL MY DIVE TRIPS!)
So the choice is yours....bet on no hurricanes, no seas/weather, no accidents, no illness, no deaths in the family, no job loss, no immediate death/injury to yourself* ...and laugh in the end when your bet pays off. But when it does not...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not expect the resort nor dive operator nor SingleDivers.com to refund your money because your bet did not pan out.
NOTE: One of the reason's we have you finalize your extras and pay for everything by 30-60 days out is so you have more flexibiity getting trip insurance. Please take a moment TODAY to do this important task if traveling with us on a trip.
*If you think it can't happen to you please think again...sadly we just lost a member going on the 10-09 Galapagos trip that MANDATED TRIP INSURANCE from the moment you registered for the trip and yet sadly he never got it before his tragic demise.
TRIP INSURANCE... if you have not purchased it then do so ASAP. Weather can srike at any time...not just hurricane season. So if a storm develops you will bear all costs associated with it up to and including cancellation, out of your own pocket. The resort can offer no recourse and neither can SingleDivers.com. If you get injured or have a family member death/accident or even lose your job...the resort can offer no recourse and neither can SingleDivers.com. If you have an old health condition that flares up and it impacts your trip then once again the resort and SingleDivers.com can offer no recourse. It is your responsibility to decide if you will gamble your trip or protect your trip. And while we would love to help you when opt to gamble...it just is no longer possible to do so with the magnitude of issues people have faced this year and then begged SD to help them anyway. PLEASE DO NOT GAMBLE YOUR VACATION unless you have the money to blow. If you are doing one trip this year then use CSA...if you are doing multiple trips this year then consider DiveAssure since they are an annual policy. If you ignore this warning then please understand there is nothing I can do to help you should your gamble not pay off.
Trip insurance is strongly suggested to protect you from lost luggage, travel delays, vacations interruptions, flight cancellations, illness/accidents prior to the trip, deaths in family causing trip cancellation etc. For about $45 per $1000...it is very reasonable. On all SingleDivers.com trips you will be asked if you are getting it, not getting it or already have it.
I've researched several companies and although DAN does offer optional trip insurance, I have found several excellent alternative providers. You can get an online quote from them and/or purchase directly from these links.

If your plans change or a trip is cancelled/interrupted due to weather or other emergency, your right to a refund is limited due to the various carriers, resorts and operators used by SingleDivers.com. Therefore we strongly urge you to get trip insurance and supply you with several companies that we use frequently at the end of every trip description. All refund requests must be in writing and the day it is received by SingleDivers.com is the date of your request. Refunds from SingleDivers.com will be issued as payments back to your original payment method usually within 45 days from written receipt of your refund request if approved. Some refunds are issued as trip/merchandise credits. See below for exceptions. Refunds from suppliers will usually be issued within 45 days of receipt from them to SingleDivers.com and may be a credit to that vendor or cash. (SingleDivers.com has no control over this but will issue you the credit/refund as we receive it.) All cash refunds where applicable will be issued back against your original form of payment either your credit card or your bank account. Please download the refund request form found in the trip docs forum located in my signature, complete and return to email@example.com, or via fax 888-480-0906 or via mail. If the form is not available ask for the password via firstname.lastname@example.org to the trip docs forum.. Note: If you feel you are due a refund of any type you must submit your written request no later than 30 days after the trip/event to secure your money. Requests received more than 30 days after the trip or event in question can not be honored.
All group trip deposits are non-refundable. Should extenuating circumstances prevail, please contact us privately at email@example.com and we will try to work with you. However, the following circumstances may prevent the loss of your deposit if not otherwise excluded by the specific trip you are canceling, the trip does not fill up or is otherwise covered by trip insurance. Trip insurance is your responsibility and is STRONGLY recommended for every trip but especially for high priced trips, trips during hurricane season and all holiday trips. Note: SingleDivers.com will not refund any monies that are covered by trip insurance. Trip Insurance is your responsibility.
211 days out incur no cancellation fee if the trip is not a holiday trip nor previously excluded in the trip details nor priced over $3000 (otherwise its 241 days if a holiday trip or priced over $3000) and you apply your deposit to another trip no later than 8 months after the original trip travel dates and the specific trip you are canceling does not have a non-refundable deposit specifically specified in the trip details. In this case you will need to file against your trip insurance. A $50-75 typical administrative fee will be deducted for facilitating this change in lieu of forfeiting the deposit. (However some resorts/suppliers require a higher change fee which will apply if mandated by our suppliers.) NOTE: You may not carry a canceled trip deposit over for more than 12 months total. If you cancel the rescheduled trip you will not be entitled to any refund or reapplication of your deposit.
91-211 days out Trip deposit is forfeited for all non-holiday trips if not specifically listed as non refundable in the trip details. Holiday trips forfeit deposit between 211-241 days. IF trip is over $3000 then 50% of the trip is also due unless you file on your trip insurance or find your own replacement (Consideration may be made due to extenuating circumstances and the number of people on the trip. Please contact us.)
61-90 days out Forfeit your trip deposit plus 75% of trip price for non holiday trips or if between 91-211 days for holiday trips or trips over $3000. (You can avoid any additional penalties beyond your deposit IF the trip is full and the next person on the waiting list takes the spot and pays in full or you file on your trip insurance or you resell your own spot to nonSD members(this MUST be coordinated via SD to be accepted, if not your monies are forfeited) or you find your own substitute who has not expressed previous interest in the trip and that person pays SingleDivers.com in full. Since final manifests have been submitted to carriers etc. even if you find a substitute you'll still be charged your deposit amount as your cancellation/change fee.) If you purchased trip insurance you can file against your insurance for the loss of your funds. SingleDivers.com will help you with any necessary documentation just let us know what you need.
0-60 days out Forfeit your trip deposit and 100% of trip price for a non-holiday trip or 0-90 for a Holiday Trip or for trips over $3000. (You can avoid any additional penalties beyond your deposit IF the trip is full and the next person on the waiting list takes the spot and pays in full (this MUST be coordinated via SD to be accepted, if not your monies are forfeited) or you find your own substitute who has not expressed previous interest in the trip and that person pays SingleDivers.com in full. Since final manifests have been submitted to carriers etc. even if you find a substitute you'll still be charged your deposit amount as your cancellation/change fee.) If you purchased trip insurance you can file against your insurance for the loss of your funds.
ALL INDIVIDUAL TRAVEL RESERVATIONS:
If you must cancel your reservation, make any changes to the departure date, or reduce the number in the party, you will be assessed the aforementioned penalties, plus any additional applicable airlines or supplier charges. Most air carriers consider a name change to be a cancellation; to avoid penalties, full and complete names are required at time of booking. In order to receive a refund, if applicable, on a scheduled air cancellation, you must return your air ticket to SingleDivers.com if booked by SingleDivers.com. Otherwise contact the carrier directly. Please note that there are no refunds for cancellations made 7 days or less prior to departure for air-inclusive vacations or less than 48 hours prior to departure for land only vacations even if supplying a substitute passenger. Separate cancellation penalties may apply to holiday or special event departures in addition to nonrefundable deposits. Nonrefundable travel agent fees may be included in your package price.
ALL PUBLISHED SCHEDULED AIR TICKETS ARE 100% NONREFUNDABLE. HOWEVER, REUSABLE TICKETS MAY BE APPLIED TOWARDS FUTURE TRAVEL, SUBJECT TO THE APPLICABLE AIRLINE RETICKETING FEE AND APPLICABLE TOUR VACATIONS REVISION FEE OF $200+. For charter passengers who wish to cancel within the penalty periods and can provide another paying passenger for the same vacation, you may be entitled to a full refund, less a $200+ reservation revision fee and any applicable supplier and reticketing fees.
