ANGEL DECOY

These are photos of an Air Force C-130 releasing flares to repel heat seeking Missiles. The pattern formed by these "decoys" are how they got their name . . . . . Angel decoy. It's absolutely! awesome!

Maneuvers are usually in remote areas and over water, therefore the general public does not get to view these exercises.

No direct relatives in the military right now...but LOTS of friends! And I guess when you are as in tune with our men and women in arms REGARDLESS of the country they are wear a uniform for...people know it and send you things they know you will appreciate! :thankyou:

the flares are mounted on helo's as well. had them go off during a supply run during my last trip.

while they were designed to draw off missles, they work great to scare people on the ground as well.

nothing like a B-1 bomber flying super sonic over someones head and firing the flares to let them know the next run will be bombs

OK, lets make a deal. If you stop telling me how to dive, I'll stop going down to the bus station at 2am to slap d***s out of your mouth.

Cool pictures. I had heard the name before, but had never seen the pictures to understand why they were called Angel Decoy. I had only seen pics from the side.
