Hey gang...we are looking to get custom scuba hides for SingleDivers.com! Below you'll find pictures of the two versions of the SD logo that you can vote for which one you like the best and if you'd be interested in one of these custom scuba hides for YOUR tank!

I've also included some information on what a 'scuba hide' is along with pictures explaining the concept!

Let me know what you think...we need to decide if we are going to sell them on the site and if so which logo design to use. (I'll need a minimum number of people interested in them as the custom order is fairly steep.)

Thanks -ww

ScubaHides taken from the ScubaHides literature...

We designed ScubaHides to be a fun, easy way for divers to personalize their gear and increase individual visual identification underwater.

The graphics are printed on a 10 mill. thick piece of polyethelyne which is placed on the tank without any adhesive. Then a 5mill. thick shrink-wrap sleeve is slid over the tank and heat shrunk with a normal hairdryer. Because the graphics are printed on the inside of the label, nothing will rub off. No adhesive is used whatsoever, and they do not cover up either the hydro stamp, or visual inspection sticker.

Once you receive your ScubaHide, they are easy to apply yourself. Simply place the graphics on the tank, slip the clear heat wrap over it, and apply heat with a normal hair dryer to shrink-wrap it tightly to the body of the tank. Here's how it works:

1. If trimming is necessary, lay the skin flat and cut it from the bottom.
2. Cut the heat wrap separately, leaving it larger than the graphics sheet.
3. Place the graphics sheet on your clean, dry tank so that your VIP sticker is visible.
4. Slide the heat wrap over the tank.
5. Apply heat evenly over a large area of the skin. For best results, wave the hair dryer slowly up and down over the skin.
6. Submerge the tank in water for several minutes When dry, the ScubaHide will be permanently affixed to the tank.
7. TO REMOVE: Score the skin with a sharp knife or razor blade. PLEASE RECYCLE.
8. Under normal use, the skins stay on the tanks, in and out of the water, for about 8-12 months, or until the annual visual inspection is due.

PLEASE NOTE that ScubaHides are a decorative tank treatment, and do not provide protection to the tank. Taking care to avoid contact with sharp objects will greatly prolong the life of your ScubaHide. Use of a protective plastic mesh will also prolong the life of your ScubaHide and does not lessen the visual impact of their design.

Here are some FAQ's about ScubaHides:

1. ScubaHides are sold UN-shrunk; you shrink them yourself with a normal hair dryer.
2. Once they are on, they won't come off until you cut them off.
3. Does not harm or alter your tank in any way.
4. ScubaHides are printed with clear windows to allow inspection stickers to show through, and are designed so they do not cover the hydro-testing stamp.
5. Does not alter buoyancy.
6. Covers all dings, scratches and blemishes on tanks.
7. Fits any tank 24 inches or less in circumference.
8. Printed on the inside to prevent scratching.
9. Does not promote the rusting or pitting of tanks.

Maybe it is just me, or my screen but they both look the same to me except one seems to have more color then the other, but otherwise the logo looks the same. Yes it is late so maybe I am missing something.

I don't own tanks so I vote with the majority.

Not to rain on the parade but these look like the same thing ISC was selling about a year ago. I am not sure what there definition of normal use is but they dont hold up well to avid diveing in the tropics. I still think the best thing for a aluminum tank is no paint at all.

Buddy (our fish) is what is different in the logos...his coloring that is!

Hey Jim send me info on ISC stuff...I saw several of these at the show and they had held up very well under lots of diving. Now we all know thats NOT the tropics!

However they aren't hugely expensive either...about $20 each.

OK. I had to print them out and look side by side. I change my vote to #1 as well. The second Buddy is actually more pink than purple.

But I would definately put them on my tanks...and I own 2 (tanks that is). Oh, but you know what? My tanks are 63's...are you going to have a short version?

Not sure if we can do the 63 or not. He is just doing the euro sizes right now. I'll ask but I'd imagine he'd buy whatever we wanted as long as I did an order for them. I'll see what he says. If we can get enough people to do 63's then it would be ok.

I put the 2 I got at Beneath the Sea on and I must say they look pretty impressive on my 120's. On 80's they would be a little better as the shrink wrap would shrink down to 7.25" (typical 80 diameter) instead of 8" (my 120's diameter) and therefore the shrink layer would be thicker and more resistant to tearing/holes. On an 8" tank you must use 2 layers of shrink to get better protection. That said they may shrink to the 63's diameter, the shrink would be very thick and probably never have an issue with wear and tear. In case people are unaware, a scuba hide is basically the art on a vinyl mat that is held in place by a clear shrink wrap sleeve

In any case I vote for #1 and want 3 when they arrive.

Anodized aluminum is nice, painted is border line, bare aluminum is a bomb with time.

NYDiver...you are soooooooooooo cool!!!

I got orders for 3 so far...maybe 2 more if Alikat wants an indestructibe coating on hers and now I only need orders for a total of 40-50 in order to pay all the custom work and upfront costs.

5 down...(maybe) and 35-40 more to go!
