We'll let you be the one to try that....I always hear the olde mermaids tale of biting the sharks nose to make him go away and leave you alone.

Although divers are rarely attacked, hearing of one (& now 2)
Neither were divers.
No single raindrop believes it is responsible for the flood.

I know what you were trying to say, but it came across as something else.
No single raindrop believes it is responsible for the flood.

Of particular note is that the article recommends using an inanimate object to poke the shark. I differ with the article about using your hand BEFORE a shark attack. A so-called primative shark has chemical and electrical receptors in its skin, so if a diver barehands a shark, they're only giving the shark the message that this thing is edible. In fact, often sharks are seen rubbing their snouts against something before eating it.

The one time I came close to being attacked, I started to unclip one of my deco bottles so that I could use that to bump the bullshark. The shark was charging really fast and broke off the attack when less than fifteen feet from me.
I still don't know if I would have unclipped the bottle in time before contact. I'm glad I didn't find out the answer that day.

A close approach where the shark turned away is not necessarily an attack the shark broke off. In most cases, the shark came in to investigate. A Caribbean Reef Shark made two passes then came straight at me while I was hanging motionless on a safety stop. He came to within 3 feet of me before turning and leaving. I never felt like he was attacking. I did have my speargun ready to push him away in case I was mistaken. I didn't have to use it. If he'd wanted to attack, he could have easily taken me from behind. He made his initial approach from behind me. I saw him after he'd already had plenty of opportunity to attack. The next time I saw one approaching, I swam toward him, he quickly left the area.
No single raindrop believes it is responsible for the flood.
