Trust me, it beats the alternative of freezing to death in a 7mm wetsuit which is bulky in its own right! Also keep in mind that once you are in the water, bulk is not nearly the same factor that it is on the surface. That heavy tank and everything else become weightless when down there.*As many* undergarments?! Just how many layers are we talking here?! This drysuit business is starting to sound less and less appealing with each post!
The "list" price difference between the trilam and the suit I got is listed as only around $200 USD so it is not a huge difference...

I seeeeeee ... so I'm gathering that it's not necessarily the drysuit itself that is warm, but the layers underneath it. Would this be a safe assumption to make?Trust me, it beats the alternative of freezing to death in a 7mm wetsuit which is bulky in its own right! Thx for the price difference info! I'm not quite looking at drysuits yet, but I shall file it away nonetheless.

A decent set of undergarments that effectively keep you warm don't have to be bulky and heavy, so don't fret! I curerntly dive a DUI TLS350, which is a trilam. It dries quickly, is lighweight, and packs small. As an instructor these are all great things, but Janna - my instructor co-hort, swears by her Bare neoprene suit, so it all depends on personal opinion. Under my suit I wear Weezle Undergarments, which are like a lightweight downy sleeping bag jumpsuit. They pack into a small bag about the size of a small traveler's pillow. So there are a lot of options out there that will keep a drysuit diver warm that are not heavy and inconvenient.*As many* undergarments?! Just how many layers are we talking here?! This drysuit business is starting to sound less and less appealing with each post!
I like the price aspect of neophrene compared to trilam ... is it that significant a savings?
As for *drag* ... <snip> I'm not too concerned about it based on other people's comments.
And yes, once again, please keep us posted! I'm most anxious to read about how the now legendary drysuit performs!

If we dive Seattle the GIS Inn is open for business.
Dive, HH, and a sleepover... I think this is about as good as it gets.
Ladies.. lets get talking.. get out those daytimers and get this thing planned.
I am sure my daughter will clear her schedule and dive with us. So that makes this a party of 4 already.
Might even be able to convince our other Canadian ( non diver) buddy to come down.
Formerly known as gis_gal and name tattoo'd for a small bribe!
