I can set you up with an instructor in the Dallas area to get you pointed in the right direction. Both he and his S/O are cave divers. He is not certified to teach cave. He can teach cavern. I also know a handfull of other divers in the area who are cavers.

My life eases up immensely after the end of June ( I finish grad school) let me know if you are interested in meeting the gang and I'll introduce you.

IF i'm still around for the Seafood Fest trip, i'll bring my copy of "blueprint for survival" and let ya borrow it. it's a short read, took me a lil over an hour.

like everyone else says, work on your skills. you want to show up for the first class ready to go. you'll be better able to focus on the new skills you'll learn.

while some people may knock on it, take a cavern course, but don't take it from any of the recreational agencies, take it from NACD or NSS/CDS.

while it is only cavern diving, coming from one of the caving agencies, it focuses you on working towards full cave. it will expose you to what you thinking about doing and realy open your eyes to what cave diving is.

doing the line drills in the cavern zone was a real eye opener. buddy breathing and following the line without a mask for a few hundred feet only gets worse in complete darkness. lol

but hey, it was fun, its all good.

but the cavern course gives you a taste of what is ahead, and lets you make a more informed decision about whether or not cave diving is something you realy wanna do.

but thats my 2psi (which equals .058 cubic feet from my steel 100) lol
