Yes, some do but the primary loss is usually data and inputting to put Humpty Dumpty back together again, and that can get really expensive. I have heard that finding the responsible party and getting them to pay is the largest dilemma. I have not experienced it myself though thankfully. So I figure the best one can do is double up on surge suppression same as some double up on back up's. I actually am not in the computer "business". Mine is access controls, so we deal with a very "exposed" product line that is highly vunerable to these sort of situations. Hence my opinion, if 1 is good 2 is better! There are a lot of details that also govern the quality of ones suppression, such as, the length of cable between the suppression and the device to be protected. Then it goes on from there.Don't surge protectors come with a large replacement warranty for electronics they fail to protect?
But then again everyone has an opinion......
