We are working really hard to upgrade the board to the new revision of software which is more fully featured and has a richer look and feel.

However it seems we WILL lose the current portal page. BUT...we may be able to rebuild it using the new software and/or a 3rd party software.

So...when we rebuild the portal page....what do YOU want on it?

Since we are most likely to have to start from scratch, what do you want on your portal page?

Calendar?
New to SD info?
Current or Hot topics
News?
Links to birthdays?

YOU TELL US!!! We want to know!

I vote for lose the portal page (or at least don't spend a lot of time, effort, or money on it). I personally never spent any time there and just got annoyed when all I ever really wanted to do was go right to the forums.

George,

If there's a way to add a Last Topics feature to the upgraded board, I'm sure there are plenty of us that would be most appreciative! :D I currently use the Portal as my entry page into SD but the only feature I'd really miss from it are the Last Topics. I find it the easiest way to view new posts as they come in. It's much more convenient than scrolling through the entire list of forums to see which threads are currently the most popular.

:)

Well, this may be hard to believe, but I really don't have an opinion - just thanks in advance for the time and effort that will go into this upgrade.

Only two things I look at on it and only briefly - Who's online and my smiling face. I use "view new posts" several times a session, but don't need the portal for any of those.

Maybe we're not talking about the same thing. Is the portal page the one found at www.singledivers.com? Or the one called "Singledivers.com Surface Interval?

Neither, WileEDiver.

Here's a link to the Portal page. Hope it works! :D

I generally view the portal page as a necessary pain in the ass to get to the new posts which is the primary thing I check when I log on. However, I'm sure I'll explore it more at some time in the future... IF it gets resurrected!

I believe we're talking about the latter, http://www.singlediv...surfaceinterval

Bill,

How are you accessing the new posts? Are you clicking on View New Posts when you log on? Or are you seeing them all neatly grouped together HERE under the heading Last Topics?

Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully we'll get lots more. This will help us tremendously!

I think George plans to do the upgrade in two stages...1) upgrade the forums/board first and then 2) recreate a fun, dynamic and fully featured portal or content manager.

Then once that is done, we plan to revamp the main www.SingleDivers.com site.

I almost never use the portal page. Do what you wish with it. The only time I get to it is when I am traveling and have to log in through singledivers.com.

I use the posrtal page almost exclusively. If there will be a way to view the last posts or days hot topics, who's online, calendar, etc.

In the final analysis, make it easy on yourself, I am sure all will adapt!!

Once you are done with your project, it would be a great way to encourage the "inactive" back to the site to see the changes!!!!!
