So I'm tired of having no idea if what I'm photographing underwater will actually appear in the picture or if it turned out etc. so it's time to start looking at making the jump to digital.

1) So what does everyone here have for an u/w camera w/housing?
2) Would you buy that camera again if given the opportunity?
3) Anything in particular you like about your setup?
4) Anything you dislike in particular about your setup?
5) Anything I need to watch out for (such as make sure the internal flash works with the macro setting etc.)?

The market is flooded with digital options and I'm starting to feel quite overwhelmed. :P

Talk to DiveScoop about his set up he used in Cozy....it was great. I took my first digital pics with it and many were good enough to use on the main home webpage. Now a lot of that may have been we just used what we had...BUT...I took some of those shots and I can assure you that they were 100% better then my regular photos. FWIW, it was easy to use, lightweight and I think usable on land as well as water. -ww

I've used Kodak and Nikons in Ikelite housings in the past but got tired of the camera taking up the whole dive, some thief took care of my Nikon problem so I switched to a Sea & Sea MX-5 point and shoot and got a lot of snap shots from the dives but that camera has problems with back scatter, might have something to do with the water I'm diving in!
This year I jumped into digital with an Olympus 5050 in a PT-015 housing, I've test dove the housing to check for leaks but have yet to dive with the camera, stay tuned.

I to just got an Olympus 5050 and PT-015. I'll be taking it for a test drive next week in the Turks & Caicos. I've never dove with a camera so it will be a big learning curve. I did do a practice dive with it in a pool on monday but I don't consider that the real thing. I wish I was also more familar with the camera there is quite a lot to it.

Always someone different!

I am using a Sealife DC310. I have had good luck with it, but I am still getting used to it as well. I had to have a fast upgrade after I lost my MX-10 last year or I might have spent more time camera shopping. Still no complaints here.

Sea & Sea MK10, strobe, lenses... wanting to move to digital, but am taking my time to decide what (and when the bank says I can spend money)

Very happy with the camera, it's making me be patient, control my buoyancy so I can take some half-decent shots if I do say so myself

Starting out?? LOL.... Hooo-Kayyy.... hang on, it's a fun/wild ride..........

My preferenced would be the Oly C-5050 in a PT015 housing with a Sea & Sea YS90 strobe... for strarters. should cost around $1100 or so.. and you can probably get by with a smaller stobe if crunched for $$

If you have the $$ you can upgrade the housing the Light & Motion Tetra (small and has the ROC which is helpful) or a second strobe etc... but the basic unit is important for many reason.

I won't go into the fact that going Digital is a slippery slope indeed. As you need to deal with batteries, storage, photo editing, computers blah-blah-blah... :2cool:

Needless to say you don't want to outgrow the camera as might happen with other models in that price range. The Oly 5050 or the Nikon or even the Canon (not real familiar with Cannon) and end up using it as a fancy "Door Stop"...

There's a whole lot more, but I don't seem to get much response on my postings so I'll just let it go at that... :2cool: I have photos in the gallery that are taken with the OLY C-4040 4mpix and I think you'll find they come out OK... compared to film..

Let me know if you have any question, no point in re-inventing the wheel..

Yes they are DL, but well worth it....I can't really comment on the still photography anymore, but I still have my Nikon, just never use it.

I will NEVER shoot stills again now that I have gone digital video....I can do both with my Sony.....
