:cool1: I am so Jealous......This is one of the finest places in the world to dive..... it is up there with Cocos, Palau and the Eastern Fields. I have spoke with a few people who have been to the Socorro's....it is a World-class dive trip!

Once they build a Resort and a Helicopter pad on one of those Islands.....I'll be there! :diver:

Thanks Kamala. I will look for the updated proposed itinerary. I am not sure of the distance between port, Cortez and Soccoro, and thus total travel time. How many days total of diving do you think the trip will offer?
Also, I would be happy to further discuss the possibility of adding a continuing medical education conference component to the trip, if that would be of benefit to your docs, nurses, and health care providers (IRS and license benefits).
I am currently looking into diving in VIetnam, where I will be going in April.

Hi Mark,

I was also checking out the diving in Vietnam...Hawk and I are getting details together for an SD trip to Thailand-Vietnam combo for 2007. I'm heading there later this year...planning to fly from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city now) to Hoi An and then driving down about an hour to Nha Trang. I would really like details on how your trip went so please keep us posted. A lot of my friends are there now celebrating the New Year so I can't wait to see all the goodies their bringing back for me. Have a great time on your trip.

Que :thankyou:

Please put me on the " interested" list. Its a little too soon for me to ask about leave, especially since I may be at another command by then.

Hi there, hope I'm doing this right -- but my check's in the mail so pretend my name is also on the list to go! I've been on the Nautilus twice in B.C. and it's pretty deluxe. Captain Mike is great and Judith, if she's on crew when we go, is a very entertaining DM and all around fun girl. Looking forward to it!

Mark, we'll definitely hook up when you are in Dallas...might even be a good time for a Dallas Happy Hour! :fish2:

The boat just got back to me and here is what they said...

This is the revised itinerary that the boat sent me for our special trip:

Hi Kamala,

The following is a suggested plan for an 11-night trip - it is likely 8 days of diving. As for the actual travel days - it will depend upon a mixture of the weather and what the group as a whole would prefer to do. If there is a weather window for the crossing ... we would more likely take that - to ensure guest comfort. This past fall, the 13-night cruise had a few days diving at the end of their trip back in the Sea of Cortez because that was what the group wanted.

On a 12-day trip ... (11-nights) .. there is boarding day and disembarkation day that are non-diving days ... and then the day of steaming out to the Revillagigedos and a day to steam back ... - those are the 4 non-diving days. The decision is just how many days to spend in the Sea of Cortez and how many to spend at the Revillaggiedos (aka Socorro).... that is dependent upon the group and the weather ...

Socorro is more of the 'big stuff' - mantas, sharks, dolphins and other pelagics ... whilst the Sea of Cortez has more of the 'aquarium'-style dives - lots of reef fish, wreck (Salvatierre) and Los Islotes with the sea lions ... Personally - I much prefer the diving out at the Revillagigedos.

Cheers, Judith

Day 1: Boarding until 1800hours

Day 2: Whale shark search in morning, wreck of the Salvatierra, Suwanee Rock

Day 3: Los Islotes including the sea lions

Day 4: at Sea

Day 5: San Benedicto

Day 6: Roca Partida

Day 7: Socorro

Day 8: San Benedicto

Day 9: at Sea

Day 10: El Bajo

Day 11: Los Islotes returning to port 1645

Day 12: disembark at 9:00am
