My mom doesn't dive either, but she came along with me and a group of my friends to Cozumel over July 4th weekend. She even came out on the boat with us one afternoon.

I DEFINITELY knew that the boat wouldn't be leaving me behind that day!!! :cool1:

But yes, it was very weird to have my mom do her 'mom' things while I was gearing up. I finally gave her 'the look' and she said..."I guess you know what you're doing". It was quite funny!

We both had a great time...and my friends are insisting that my mom accompany us on any and all dive trips in the future!

My dad has come along on diving trips.... but we were actually working on the boat too!! It was great having him along to see what diving was all about and just to see the areas we goto. He got some indirect rebreather training too, so now has less fears of my wanting to learn one!!

When was that Inspiration coming around again?

Seriously, I really don't have the parent or brother interested in watching me go into the water. Diving in my family is my hobby and no-one else's. All of you are fortunate to have family that wouldn't mind sharing in the experience even though they don't dive.

I think it's a great idea WW!

Last year I took my mom on a cruise to Alaska for her 75th birthday. Dad's been gone for many years and I asked her point blank, "What do you want to do before you're too old to do it?" She said she wanted to see Alaska and Australia, so I booked the cruise. I must confess that I anticipated not having the absolute time of my life on the trip, but I knew we would have quality time together and it was really all for her. Much to my surprise, I had an absolute BALL on the trip and I dragged her (without much effort) into every single activity I embarked upon, including a river rafting run down Class 3 rapids. She showed the picture of the rapids to everyone under the sun and then a few extras besides. Overall, it was a huge success!

I think the idea of planning a trip to say "Thanks!" to the ones who have put up with us for so many years is awesome. I would definitely consider it.

I don't know about this one. I can only handle my parents in small regulated dosages. Anything more and we both get on each others nerves

I think a number of great comments have been made here. I think if we have several parents along...they can share their concerns over how their kids do something so dangerous and we can equally have a great time. And if you parents dive...well the more the merrier!

I think we'll try to do this! Any other thoughts?
