Although I am an instructor and spend waaaaay too much time at our dive shop, I always surprise myself how facinated I am with looking through gear and knick knacks when visiting other shops. So I started wondering, what are divers' equipment favorites when it dive shops?

For example, I like:

1. neoprene slap straps for masks
2. affordable decent sized lift bags
3. goodies for my save-a-dive kit - I am always expanding my kit, recent additions: mustache goop for those male students who have mask leak issues and this fabulous no fog spritz - so cool!!

:lmao:

Yes, I know it sounds crazy but I'd like to see a dive shop that stocks nothing but used gear. When you consider that a large percentage of newly-certified divers quit after a year or so, there should be a ton of such stuff to stock.

I prefer much of the older gear. Love to lurk on E-Bay to try to find yet another ScubaPro X-Tek M/L soft backpack with a Trav-Tek wing. I think they are the greatest.

But then, I'm an oldie but moldie myself.

Ah, Dive Girl... something tells me we don't wear the same size (at least I hope not for your sake!). I'm a 46AAA.

The Gripper ™ retractors

Decent battery powerd tank beacons...I haven't found one yet.

And/or Chemsticks (reference above).

The itty-bitty (golf) pencils that seem to get lost from slates all the time.

Brass clips (as somebody else mentioned)...btw, you can get those at most home improvement stores for cheaper :teeth:

Swim-Ear or something similar for cleaning out the ears after diving

Bonine (spell?)...or whatever your preferred motion sickness stuff is.

'Paint Pens' for marking your gear

That's about all I can think of for now...

I would like to see more books. I am always looking for a new read, and I usually have to order books on diving. Instructional and other.

Wow! These are some great goodies! Now I'm going to start looking for them and excellent statement about those little pencils! I lost my last one Monday night - in a pool no less! I couldn't get the grate open! Aaack!

WOW!!! If only!!!

Now if that's not motivation for me to hurry up with my check out dives, I don't know what is!

(Not only is there not enough purple diving gear from what I've seen... have you ever tried to find purple shoes? A near impossibility, I find. :()

I love, love, love purple!!!

BTW, nice to see your smiling face again, AliKat! :o

How in the world did this one escape me until now? I guess it shows what a lousy marketer I am.

You will definitely need to carry as many of my educational DVD's and CD's as the shelves allow. If you did, I might actually sell a few! There would be several monitors playing different DVD's.

And I'd have an Internet station dedicated to accessing SCUBA boards like SD.

And if it were MY store, I'd cover the walls with pix of the SD hunks. No, not for me... to attract all the beautiful ladies into the store! Oh, the possibilities!
