AGREED!

PLEASE don't trash them...they can be "minimized" by using the New Since function...

I think getting rid of the really old topics and posts would help with the clutter....

finley! :birthday:

And lose posts like this...

So - in light of some of the fun poked at those of us who are of the DIR persuasion, I offer you:

The Top 10 benefits to "diving" with a DIR buddy:

10. We're absolutely committed to our buddy during the "dive".

9. We like to be REALLY close to our buddy during the "dive". the closer the buddy, the better we like it.

8. We always keep enough reserve gas in the tank to get BOTH of us where we're going.

7. We understand that great body position makes every "dive" more pleasurable.

6. We understand that staying down a long time means making plenty of deep stops on the way back up.

5. We spend considerable time working on trim.

4. We don't ever surface prematurely.

3. If something goes wrong during the "dive", we've always got the proper backup equipment in our pocket to take care of our buddy.

2. Our reputation for the deepest and longest penetrations is well-founded

And the #1 benefit of "diving" with a DIR buddy is..... (drumroll)

1. Two words: LONG HOSE.

:birthday:

:taz: :birthday: :birthday:

I think what was meant by Walter's and my reference to *clutter*, was to not get overly enthusiastic about making the new board busy with diving paraphernalia... instead, keep it subtle and simple. :birthday:

Exactly, Darlin'. Can we ditch the smilies while we're cleaning house? <quickly ducking>

Yup, they were gone; when Tolly finished the board upgrade, the smilies had to be added later...we went about a week without them

Well, we did have 4... but my personal fave, anna2 :anna2:, was MIA. (Look at her little cheeks blushing...she's so cute!)

Any other suggestions?

I think Scott's idea of being able to complete waivers and forms and surveys online is awesome! We can even structure them so that they default to the information that you completed the last time so you only change what is new...i.e. if you are diving nitrox or not but don't have to re-enter info on your roommate preferences say.

We also have a suggestion whereby when you register you are an automatic Trial Premeir Member so that you can immediately receive a welcome from SD inviting you into our community and helping you learn the ropes right away. You'll then have a short period of time to decide if you want to be a premier member or just a standard member. This is also an excellent idea that we will proceed with.

As for the background of the board or 'skin' as they call it...I think we have had some excellent ideas...a dive flag theme like Scott said is a great idea. A fish and marine aquatics theme like others have suggested is also excellent. I just know the right programmer can help us create a very unique (subtle) look for our site! PLEASE keep the ideas coming! We have to be able to give the programmer specific ideas to help them since most likely they will not be a diver!!!!

Is there a way for "view new posts" to be a check off rather than once you have seen some of them and log off there gone? Sometimes I have a spare moment to look at a few but not all and (correct me if I am wrong) once I have visited this and log off they are all gone for "view new".
