Want to have some fun this Christmas? Send the ACLU a Christmas card as
they are working so very hard to get rid of the Christmas part of the
holiday.

We should all send them a Christmas card to brighten their world. Don't be rude or crude its not the Christian way. And make sure to wish them a merry Christmas!

I hate to break this to you ScubaCutie, but the ACLU is not the ones replacing "Christmas" with "Holiday" the biggest flap about that story comes from companies and institutions that are doing it themselves. No suit or action that I have heard of has the ACLU trying to change Christmas. The confusion on this issue comes from the cases when the ACLU has taken action to prevent Governments (from the city to the Feds) from spending Taxpayer money on secular displays, or having one display the promotes one system of beliefs over another.
So as much fun as it may be to send the ACLU a Christmas card (I'm a member and I like cards, heck send them to me) it would make sense to send the cards to the companies and stores that switched to "Happy Holidays" to try to avoid offending any of their customers. Of course it's a lot easier to blame the ACLU, but that's just a knee-jerk reaction. The ACLU wants you to have the right to celebrate what ever you want to celebrate! It doesn't want to Government to interfere with that right - but it doesn't want to government to pay for your celebration either.


Does anyone else remember the days when "Happy Holidays" was just a way to say "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year" all rolled together. Now people have turned the expression "Happy Holidays" into an affront to GOD! If you want to have some fun, send a "Happy Holidays" card in return.

I hear ya! Now I'm not a member of the ACLU...but I do believe there is more fuss being made by corporate America (and maybe a few nit picky people) to be politically correct than by any political organization. In fact, here's a message I recently received wishing me well in the immediate future:

holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious

at all. We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling
and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally
accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the
calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society
have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily
greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western
Hemisphere. And without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical
ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. By
accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting
is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable

Yes it does seem that the real culprit is BUSINESSES. I guess I'll have to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah! And very Happy New Year to all!

Twinklez, you should inform them that the use of Holiday in there message may be offensive to Atheists. ;)Remember in the middle of all the arguments going on in the world of Merry Christmas VS Happy Holiday that Holiday is contracted from Holy Day. That's right folks, the Christians coined the word Holiday for their Holy Day.
