you mentioned benadryl for the itch....

for those in whom benadryl causes drowsiness, you can use over the counter loratidine (claritin or it's generic). less or no drowsiness.

I was thinking more along the lines of the spray on type of benadryl...but those are great suggestions TF...thanks! -ww

WW, have asked around here about the advent of a grocery on Roatan, and nobody seems to know...my suspect is that you'll be able to get 'normal' things like pringles and pepsi (etc...) but specialty things might be a little harder to come by...I found on my walk this morning a grocer here that has margaritta and daquri mixes...is there any other request?

WWrench's idea of everyone getting 2 bottles of duty free hooch for in room happyhours is great!

Benadryl ointment is good for bites, but I like Hydrocotozone sauve.

Many of you may wish to do Day of Arrival Diving...I'm guessing it will be shore diving however if you wish to charter the 2:30pm boat that can arranged for an additional charge of $25-30US.

Do the free shore dive. Good time to get your dive-legs, and you'll have 18 more boat dives that week.

Sign up for the Snorkel With Dolphins at AKR for the no-dive day just before you come home. It fills early, better than Scuba with dolphins, and cheaper. Use a cab, though; don't rent cars. Dangerous. And the cabs are cheaper if you walk to the road and flag them down, but - you're on vacation. Spend the money and save time.

I remember a convenience store not far from the resort. The locals don't have enough spending money to actually support a real grocery. Choices will be limited to what sells in a poor economy. If you need something not being offered on the buffet, talk to the dining manager, then the hotel manager if needed. I broke a hinge on my glasses, gave them to the desk manager, and got them back the next day. Of course, I travel with 2 pair.

And tip generously! We got as guests of a poor country, to enjoy their homes. The people work hard for little. Be nice and have fun.

Funny thing about time. They operate on Central Standard - not Daylight Savings, so it's like our Mountain time zone now. Yet they are further east, about the same at Georgia, son the sun comes up early and sets early on your clock.

AWESOME Doug for helping out....did they also have juice and sodas for mixers? How about those snacks?

IF NOT GANG....pick up snacks in the Duty Free or grab some nuts before you hit the plane!

Clarification on the SD Room Happy Hours:

So the idea is to buy the Liquor or alcohol that YOU want to drink! That way if you don't drink...you aren't penalized!

The rooms will host snacks and mixers! Since I drink red wine...I'll definitely be bringing that from home....however some mango rum sounds tempting too...especially with the daquiri mix Doug aka Rockhound found.....hmm....getting thristy already!

soda and snacks should be easy to come by...juice maybe a little harder, but the fruit for the juice will be abundantly available...maybe we can bum a blender...or someone could bring one...I've got a power converter if its anything funky.... does anyone have a blender they could bring?

Can you convert 110v to 110v?!

You won't need a converter. And packing a blender isn't that hard to do. Just wrap it in your 3 mil.

Its a weight issue...the blender that is...and speaking of which....unlike a lot of destinations...we get 2 checked bags 70# EACH!!! Last week in Canada was #50 each

I have one we can bring...but I'm already loaded with t-shirts and stuff for the trip...anyone else? -ww

Fantasy Island Beach Resort

This picuture shows the resort main buildings, with the beach in front, the dive shop off to the left adjacent to the marina, and the gazebo to the right on the blue water channel, with CCV across the channel to the far right.

Note the seclusion of the 21 acre key, and the guarded bridge.
