I can pee in my bathing suit but not in my wetsuit! Of course I can hold it for quite awhile, which is why i'm certain that when i'm old I'll be in a nursing home wearing Depends on a regular basis.. :teeth:

I dont like wearing a diaper. I didnt like them when I was a baby, and I still dont. I am very happy that I put a p-valve in my drysuit. Shaving around the pole is the worst part, but its not bad. The condom caths do have alot of glue on them, so beware of using them without shaving. I got a sample pack from a medical supply house (the name escapes me). The Rochester wide bands are a popular choice.

This brings up all sorts of visuals!

I can shave all I want

you are one brave chick for even GOING there on THIS site with THESE guys!!!

as for peepee wetsuits.....i rinse 'em in lemon juice in the room (a trick from a DM somewhere).
and i wash my skins when i take a shower after diving.

i also exfoliate at least once a week for that dewey, fresh look......

TF !!!!!
I am very impressed! You gave sound physiologic information..... with crayons!

why thanks, doc.

renal function is a hobby of mine ( :cool2: ) as you know....

BUT: since you mentioned it....
if cold-water immersion is considered a STRESS, what role does ADH have in gfr/urine production while diving? legit question, btw

Not really brave! The women on this site start more stuff than the men. There are certain words or variations thereof that I don't like to use on this site for the same reason that I wouldn't use them around my ex's (unless I was interested that night :cool2: )

TF.. Stress response, Antidiuretic hormone, Glomerular filtration rate, renal function. Now you will really scare the natives.
I am not sure that diving per se stimulates the stress response. For me, at least, it has more of a benzodiazepine effect. So I think the blood volume redistribution to the core due to external pressure and water temp induced vasoconstriction (I prefer vasodilation, myself) cause a relative hypervolemic state. Then the hypothalamus and the renal Loops of Henle address this my making PPP (that's plentiful production of pee).
There, did that sound official?

Now, as for this shaving conversation.... That's stressful, even just thinking about it.
Diving; My zen space.

cause a relative hypervolemic state

so wouldn't that release ADH to conserve the body's fluid?

and i think you'd probably look and feel a lot better vasodilated than constricted (vascular shrinkage??)

shaving? tell me about it.
you guys just don't understand just how stressful it can be .....

I always try to hydrate myself as much as possible. One advantage of being fully hydrated when you dive is that when (not IF) you do pee in your wetsuit, it is largely water and less uric acid, etc.

I find that I rarely pee in warm water but almost always do in our colder water. However I had a string of about 13 dives in a row on Catalina where I didn't. I never figured out why.

Shaving? I have enough trouble doing it to my face in the morning since my vision is always quite blurry.
