When is the best time to see PNG? Isn't our summer their winter? So would 6-6-6 be good or not? Need to decide soon....looking at the T&C liveaboard in June and Belize in May to see whalesharks...Hawaii in Feb and S. Pacific someplace in March or April. ...but I gotta do some of the shows as well next year. Florida and CA are on the list cuz we missed them this year.

PNG "Milne Channel" or "Kimbe Bay" and I've recently heard of the "Eastern Fields" to name a few places is close enough to the equator that the idea of winter is more a joke. You are in da tropics mon. Due to tropical storms in the "summer months(Dec-Mar) June is actually better. There is diving all over PNG so deciding where to go is also important. A liveaboard is usually the way to go but there are now some land based resorts that are making a name for themselves as well.

Chuck, I have been looking to do PNG for quite some time. At the Long Beach Scuba show, I talked to the people who had resorts in Milne and Kimbe Bay areas. The small stuff is out of this world. The Big stuff is there but not a lot. You have to do a Livaboard to see it all.

Now the Eastern Fields you can do only on a livaboard and is avaliable and only a couple of months a year.... expensive...But everything i have heard....It is The Blue Corner times 5 or more and the Reefs he pulls into for the small stuff again is the best. This would be the only liveaboard I will/can do if we could book for about a 7 day adventure!

But I think 2006 may already be booked.....But if the SD Gods intervene....perhaps I will be on another livaboard. I would put my deposit up today for 2006 or 2007!
You must endeavor to pursue!
