I've since found old friends from High School too, its nice to see at a glance what they are up to now

How, Jack? I don't understand how it works, and I don't want to join up with all the attendant risks just to find out, especially as at that time I'll be particularly at risk as I don't know how it works. I have to say it all sounds too much effort for questionable reward.

The easiest way is to search by name, of course there are lots of John Smiths but you can also search by other criteria like location, age or whatever people have agreed to share. When someone makes an account they choose what info they want to enter, theres a place to enter past schools, Uni's, work places etc. Also if I add you as a friend (and you accept) I can see who you are friends with and you can see who I am friends with, and then we can both add further friends from there (hence the network bit).

From there you can write messages to friends, post pictures, videos etc.

As a tool it can be useful if you want to keep in touch in that way but don't buy into the hype. If you're subconsciously pulling a face after reading the above give it a miss, you arent missing out that much.

The sea does not belong to despots. On its surface iniquitous rights can still be exercised, men can fight there, devour each other there, and transport all terrestrial horrors there. But at thirty feet below its level their power ceases, their influence dies out, their might disappears.
Ah, sir, live in the bosom of the waters! There alone is independence. There I recognise no masters! There I am free.

:lmao: Myspace is not a place to talk scuba diving, it only serves as a place to find other scuba divers and bring them to SD where they/we can all talk scuba in several differnt catagories...instead of some single rolling page of mostly trash talk. myspace and facebook are very popular places and its a great place to find friends etc... but if you want true scuba talk with divers who know..its SD

I started on MySpace a few years ago because I do a little acting and voiceover work when I can, and a lot of the acting comminuty in New Orleans keeps in touch through MySpace, so at first, it was mostly for networking. Eventually I'd discover a lot of friends from other aspects of my life were on there too, and I've even made a couple of genuine real life friends through MySpace. I figure there are risks no matter where you go and what you do, so just approach everything with common sense. My profile is at http://myspace.com/lady_katia or search for "phoenix of New Orleans"
