I might be interested in this one -- depending upon a few factors....but definitely on the interested list.

WW - are you still contemplating putting something together for the Oriskany?

Yes we hope to have that put together for November of this year.

I'd be interested in this one... any chance of it being wrapped around the July 4th holiday...?

Would this be a photo only? Or would spearing be allowed....

-Tim

Currently we are looking at July 9-13 which is the only date they are offering in July to non-research divers.
We hope to be in NC for July 4th weekend. :)

Oh, ok - Key West would be the dock, not Texas. That does seem a lot more reasonable. Who what where when how and why - still a good plan.

I'd have to compare the costs of flying into Key West with nights there before and after vs flying into Miami-Ft.Lauderdale, renting & driving, staying at lower cost hotels around Florida City perhaps. Looks like $200 per person more to fly in/out Key West plus higher hotel costs & taxis vs renting car, lower cost air & hotel, paying parking. It'd be nicest if SD.com included that in the plan as done in North Carolina - with discounts to drive in customers.

It is relatively cheap to fly into Key West so the plan so far looks like it makes more sense than doing that then doing it the way we do NC with a rental van etc. Plus people will want to stay longer or arrive early...it is the nature of the beast. I do like the idea of adding a day or so on the end to meet up with our Florida buddies!

I think we'll include one night of hotel which is the day you arrive in the package. That will help with the high cost of hotels in the area. July is also a slower month for them. August is the start of high season.

Huh? Posted Image It looks like $200 more to Key West than MIA/FLL. But I guess it depends on from where, and perhaps when..?

Yes, I'd certainly want to arrive a day before boarding for that far away, then have to say a day late before flying, whether the extra days are in Key West if economical, or somewhere else on the OSH. Either way, a lot of divers are 6 ft tall or more, and carry as much as you do, so I hope you arrange whatever ground transportation with that reasonable comfort in mind.

Hi All,
For those interested I think the "Vandeburger" aircraft carrier soon to me artificial reef to be sunk this spring '08 off Key West. Talking with LDS in Key West anytime after Memorial Day '08 boat trips should be going out.

Some of the answers are as follows...(also adding to original thread)

Diving: The Spree will on a 3 day trip do 5 dives, 4 dives then 2 dives on the last transit day. They are I believe offering 5 dives a day except for possibly the last day.

Will get answers to the other questions as soon as the boat is back in town to reply...they are running 7 days a week right now.

11 dives possible in 3 days of a 5 day trip for $1200, $500 air, hotel - or did I miss something there?

My reply was when the do the FG trip they allow 11 dives. They will allow up to 5 a day or 25 I beleive in 5 days of diving.

:-D So it is 5 days of diving, or 4-1/2, not 2-1/2 fr $1100-1200?

Thank you

5 days of diving...we aren't going hundreds of miles offshore like we do in FG.

Well, the FG is about 100 miles from Freeport, I think; Dry Tortugas is about 70 miles from Key West; and I don't know how they do it there, so clarifications help. W,W,W,W,H&W

Unanswered question: Any shore time there>
