Important Udate:

Just a quick update. Larry has been released from the hospital but is VERY VERY WEAK AND TIRED. He is also not wanting to relive everything that happened over and over again as he has started getting calls from well intentioned people but draining none the less.

He has asked that you all please allow him to rest and he is not ready to talk about what happened and will do so when he is able and on his own terms. He statement to me was if the details of my condition can help others I'll probably share it but if the lessons learned do not relate to my condition then I will focus on those aspects rather than the medical details.

Please note that these are his wishes and not mine. I am conveying them for him as he will not be able to access the internet for awhile still.

He does have family with him so he is not alone and I believe they are screening his calls so he can get the much needed rest his body requires.

Larry particularily wanted everyone on the trip to know that it was such a relief knowing that you all were having a good time despite the setbacks and that this was a tremendous group of outstanding individuals who all came together to form a cohesive group of new and old diving friends! :angel2:

Larry,

I too am sending some well wishes your way for a full and speedy recovery :cheerleader: :thankyou: I am relatively new to the board so we haven't met YET. Hopefully once you are up and around you will be able to join us for a Happy Hour. In the meantime, we will say a prayer for you at the upcoming one in West Palm and wish for the pleasure of your company in the near future. I am sure your home family is taking excellent care of you and if there is anything your SD family can do I am sure we are all willing to help in any way we can so just let us know.

Get well soon and I will pray for just that! :thankyou:
Susie

I hated that useless feeling of being unable to do anything to help other than help Larry into the boat. The Explorer Crew did great and the skipper probly would have done the impossible at getting Larry back to port if he had to, but for the good neighbors yachters with a speed boat who came to the rescue. Of all the yachts around Exuma with little dingies, we were so lucky to have them nearby and willing; the odds against that are large, but we knew it was an extreme sport when we got our C-cards and passports.

I did ask the skipper about contact info for the yachters so we could convey gratitudes and offer reimbursements for fuel and engine hours at least. He said that they'd handled the thanks for us and nothing further was needed. I know that's how good neighbors are in the great outdoors, but wanted to offer at least.

Hang in there Larry and best wishes...!

Larry, We missed celebrating our birthday together this year doing a birthday dive, so my prayers will be that we will be able to do that dive in 2008. You're a very special person. Take care of yourself - I am already saying prayers of thanks for the healing that has already begun and a continued speedy recovery.

Hope to see you blowing bubbles again SOON!! :bam:
