Of course this trip is open to Yankees! After all, I'm an X-Detroiter myself. The code for Bush Intercontinental is IAH, which is where the post HH will be, if there is one. Both airports are in Houston. The double tree is where we had the HH this year, so that would be a good place to get your room. Or the Sleep Inn is right next door, within walking distance and not as pricey. They are both very close to the airport and have shuttles that will take you to the airport the next morning.
Water temperatures are in the 80s all the way to the bottom.
Our local members have always been generous enough to volunteer to pickup the fly in members from the airport. When we get closer to the trip date and we have a full boat, I will look at everyones flight schedules and arrange for pickups from the airport at that time.
Punk is right...Yanks are welcome! Try to arrive around 1-3pm so that you can get on the road to the boat shortly thereafter. Too much time to kill is just that...too much time. Sandy is excellent at helping people with arrival times for best pickups.
And speaking of pickups...this is the most phenominal trip in that it ONLY works because of the generosity of our members! Sandy does a tremendous job helping to coordinate rides and carpooling not only from Houston but Dallas too.
We only ask our trip participants to pay a specified amount for gas to the member drivers or if we do not have enough and we need to rent a car we do an all-way split on the cost for all the carpooling members only.
