Hey Gayle

:D Welcome :cool1:
Great to see you sign up for this trip

You are going to really enjoy the SD group...

Karen

Wouldn't miss a FG trip. BTW I'll be driving my minivan, if your interested in carpooling with me.

It's a non-smoking van. I usually come back the same day the boat docks, since I have an extra hours drive from FW.

I will have room for 3 people besides myself. I take out the middle console seat for gear.

It's a little crowded but cozy.

Hi WW

Count me (Scuba dew) in.

I will be driving from DFW
Would like the FREE Nitrox but need a Nitrox tank.
0# lead will bring my own.

And my check is in the mail.

First SD trip, I can't wait.

Gayle

Awesome! And it won't be your last! I've got you on the list!

Can you help with carpooling or are you looking to share a ride or just drive on your own?

WW

Sorry I missed this post. Yes I can help with carpooling. I have a non-smoking minivan which can hold at least 3 other people besides myself.

I take the middle console seat out for the gear. It would be really cozy for those in the back 2 seats.

I guess it depends on how friendly everyone is. :D

I mailed my deposit check for 200 bones a couple of weeks ago--just wondering if it made it. As far as paperwork, I'll fill that stuff out later (essentially, the survey part will be the same except for experience level (that'll be more!!) and certification (Rescue Diver classes start the weekend after this one!)). After that it should just be the release form, I guess.

WreckWench left for the Philippines on the 16th, and she may not have had a chance to go through the payments before she left due to the wedding. Please be patient until her return on the 30th, and she will process the payments and get them posted to the board. :usflag:

Hi Y'all
Is this trip open to members above the Mason-Dixon line?
If yes, count me in!
But wait --- there's more : the only decision I need to make as a fly-in re: the price is whether to pay it all at once or installments??????? Damn why can't all trips be this easy :cool2:

BTW, is there an airport code for " Hobby / Bush " ; which cities are each in ; how do I get to boat from either ; what is H2O temp at depth avg. that time of yr; what city is airport hotel you spoke of for HH ?
I think I'd like to get a room on the 17th at wherever the HH will be. :bam: Jeff

Sparky in short yes

Im still interested in this trip for next year but a couple of questions as if this trip goes it will be the first one i will have made(0 for 6 currently). Plus by this time i should have some vacation if i end up getting a job by thanksgiving time frame that or do a shift swap where ever im at.

I know this trip is a "recreational trip" but i was wondering if Advanced Nitrox dives would be possible (no deco, just adv nitrox), IE using a bottle with say 50% in on the way up?

Then is there still the surcharge for divers using tanks larger then 100 cf?

Of course this trip is open to Yankees! After all, I'm an X-Detroiter myself. The code for Bush Intercontinental is IAH, which is where the post HH will be. Both airports are in Houston. The double tree is where we had the HH this year, so that would be a good place to get your room. Or the Sleep Inn is right next door, within walking distance and not as pricey. They are both very close to the airport and have shuttles that will take you to the airport the next morning.

Water temperatures are in the 80s all the way to the bottom.

Our local members have always been generous enough to volunteer to pickup the fly in members from the airport. When we get closer to the trip date and we have a full boat, I will look at everyones flight schedules and arrange for pickups from the airport at that time.

Here is some info directly off their website: Gulf Diving.com

Pony Bottles?
Pony bottles in use aboard the M/V Fling and M/V Spree are
considered redundant safety equipment for emergency
situations only. Pony bottles equipped as a redundant gas
supply with first and second stage regulators will be filled
once at the beginning of the charter if needed. Nitrox fills for
pony bottles are $10. Pony bottles equipped as gas supply for
drysuit inflation, having only a first stage regulator, inflator
hose and pressure gauge, will be filled with air on an asneeded
basis.

Depth limits:
The depth limits are 130 fsw for the first dive of the day only,
with a maximum allowable depth of 100 fsw for each
subsequent dive. Anyone violating the depth limits will be
subject to an extended surface interval of 5 hours for the first
violation, and a 24 hour extended surface interval for a
subsequent violation. A third depth limit violation shows us
that the diver’s diving skills may not be suitable for diving at
the Flower Gardens, and they will sit out the rest of the trip.
Computer/Dive Table violations:
We take a dim view of violating decompression status on
computer or dive tables. Any diver found in decompression
violation of either their computer or dive tables will need to
follow the omitted decompression steps of their computer or
tables. This usually involves a 12 or 24 hour extended surface
interval. The only exceptions are: (1) in the case of a diver
wearing 2 computers, the more conservative one is in DECO,
or (2) the obvious failure of a computer, in which case the
diver must switch to tables for the following 24 hours. Failure
to turn on a computer prior to entering the water or failure to
correctly set the breathing gas is not considered failure of the
computer. In this case, the diver will be required to switch to
dive tables for the following 24 hours. The boat divemasters
are required to visually inspect each diver’s computer at the
time the diver returns to the boat and obtain the diver’s profile
for the dive.
