I noticed that you were the only two not signed up for Nitrox. If you would like to become certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver on this trip, let me know, and we can make it happen.

Anyone else need certifications???

Nitrox will allow you do dive LONGER than air. It will not make your tank of gas last longer but if you regularily dive in the 60-100 range, or do lots of repetitive dives and come up with more air in your tank than bottom time meaning you do end your dive because you ran out or got low on air....then nitrox is for you.

By mid week doing 3 dives a day your dives will be certainly be less than everyone else's except the one other person doing air. More than likely the two of you will be dive buddies as air profiles and nitrox profiles do not mix UNLESS you dive with someone that ALWAYS stays shallow....very shallow... and then you will probably get close to deco on a longer dive but should still be ok. If you don't do all the dives or only do short dives anyway then you should not have too many issues and you may find that air is 'just fine' for you. It certainly is cheaper and plentiful but the reason so many people dive nitrox is not only longer bottom times but also for the safety margin. While you may be getting close to deco by mid week we will have significant time remaining until decompression so therefore keeping a higher safety margin.

I hope this makes sense...and I'm sure the instructor would love to talk to you more about Nitrox on the trip! Buy him a beer or three and he'll talk all you want!

Kamala. After reading your post I will opt out as well. I would like to stop at the store for a case of water and soda. Hopefully those folks I ride with will want to do the same.

An afternoon of just relaxing is fine by me and after hearing the different accounts of what goes on there I don't want to stress on vacation nor do I want a tired an cranky DM who had to deal with th wrath of his wife.

If there's no DM available to do a Sat. orientation, you can find me out in the water anyway, snorkeling! Anyone is welcome to join me, so don't forget to pack your snorkel if it's not part of your diving kit. It's the next best thing to diving, and it's not much work!

Very Important
You should make a copy of your passport, dive insurance & health insurance cards, and write down all prescription medicines you take, and any allergies you have, just in case there is a medical emergency & WW has to "speak" for you. Put these in a sealed envelope with your real name & screen name on the front, and give it to WW when you arrive at the resort. She will return it to you, unopened, at the end of the trip. She will only open it if you have a medical emergency and are unable to speak for yourself. It could help save your life, so please take time tomorrow to make these copies.

I keep mine, and take it on every SD trip......

I think that is a good call...You know I don't mean to be a downer but I have run a few trips and its usually something silly like this that ends up messing things up. An afternoon of relaxing is PERFECT and you can dive dive dive all week!

The option the resort offers works BEST if its only a couple of people ALL on the same flight. When you are juggling different flights then it gets dicey.

He is doing a single condo and will be joining us from San Francisco area. He has not gotten his screen name yet but will do so on the trip. (Maybe you all can help him come up with a name!)

Last minute things...


1. I got some pb&j in a jar mixed already! Just need bread!
2. Bringing some sweets as you can't get them on the island and some other snacks. (You know when you KNOW you can't have them then you crave them. When you have them, you rarely touch them.)
3. Got some extra cash...this is a CASH RULES ISLAND...tips, taxi fares, other....USE CASH!!!
4. Still working on a costume...
5. Got some book bags and other school supplies for the kids!
6. Will pick up a bottle at the duty free so I can reduce my bar bill a bit!

Can anyone think of anything else?

LLDN or Cos" What the name of that Maple Syrup Stuff and will Duty Free have it?? Is 1 bottle enough or will there already be a on island stock??

Bruce brought it.....Buttershots is the name, but I don't know the brand/maker. Tastes like pancakes to me! And believe me, 1 bottle was more than enough at the KK pool party! I have no clue if duty free shops will have anything that specialized.....typically, you see the major stuff like Rums, Gins, Vodkas, certain Whiskeys, etc. They didn't even have Crown Royal at the LAX duty free!!
