The Olympics have been AMAZING...what has made them that way for you?

Any regrets?

My only regret is that I was doing trade shows for the first part of them and missed many of the early medal presentations and that I now live on the East Coast and they end so late....

Apolo Ohno becoming the most decorated USA winter olympian ever, passing Bonnie Blair....
The USA finally getting their first medals in the Nordic events.....
Joannie Rochette skating to a bronze medal despite her mother dying of a heart attach as soon as she arrived in Vancouver....
Evan Lysacek winning the men's gold, after a 20+ year drought for the USA in men's figure skating....
Our young up-&-coming dance skaters winning a silver medal!!!....
The awesome "flying tomato" himself, Shaun White, winning another gold in the half-pipe....
The unfortunate luge incident during a training run....
Favorites falling, perennial "also ran" athletes stepping it up & winning a podium spot, the lack of snow at a winter olympics,

My only regret is that there did not seem to be as many daytime hours of coverage as usual....and I can't stay up for the late coverage and still function the next day! :welcome:

I gotta figure out how to record things to watch when I have time...used to be so easy but since the switch to digital...I'm at a loss. I've missed a lot of the Olympics, but have enjoyed the aerials, medal or not.

For many years I would get upset at my Mom because she liked the figure skating and dancing best. Well, now I do too. The amazing performance of Li Na to the James Bond music was utterly amazing. She brought grace, strength, sex and more to that short 3 minutes. Of course the Canadian woman whose Mom had died was truly incredible under the circumstances. And the dancing pairs were luscious. Imagine dancing on ice together from the time that you are entering first grade and then winning a Silver Medal. But the Canadian couple was truly gorgeous together, and clearly the most joyous during the playing of Oh Canada.

As a marathon runner, the race to the finish today in the women's cross-country was scintillating. Of course the halfpipes and aerials plus the skeleton with the British women head first at such a high speed were all mind-boggling. The speed skaters reminded me of Roller Derby and its demolition process.

I have watched it all by using the good old DVR and taping everything after midnight while I slept. Then I could watch while doing internet reading and work in the mornings. So everyone get a DVR, you can zoom through the advertisements and some of the fill stuff next time. :welcome:

I am proud to say that, without doubt, the man's figure skating champion: Evan Lysacek. :lmao:

He grew up in our neighborhood, went to the same elementary, middle and high school (Neuqua Valley) as my 2 kids. In fact because he is two years older than my daughter, we found him on our daughter's middle and high school year books! Our mayor will definitely award him with a key to the city. :lmao:

We are also happy for his coach Frank Carroll to win the first olympic gold medal with his many star skaters. Frank was the coach for many famous skaters, including arguably the most decorated woman figure skater ever, Michelle Kwan.

Yes, my wife and I are big figure skating fan and we think every medal winner got what they deserved, including the champions of each event. :teeth:

Haven't had TV now for 1 1/2 months so I missed everything. Winter Olympics aren't my thing anyway. I grew up in Chicago and have no desire to see snow and ice for the rest of my life.

Discovering there was more to curling then just a group of people with big rocks and broom. Strategy and skill in a unlikely sounding competition.

Certainly the lowlight was the Georgian Luger dying just before the Olympics started was the lowlight.

To this point, the US beating Canada in Hockey was a great highlight. Tomorrow may eclipse that. We will see.

There are two highlights for me
1)now that I do not work for a very large company, I have not had to endure hearing about it.
2) More junk on tv means I have incentive to work longer hours

Now I WILL want to watch the olympics in 2012 if pole-dancing becomes an event. There is a petition going now. I am serious. Vote in the pole at this tv station wflx.com

My highlight so far is the crowd at the curling arena during the men’s gold medal game spontaneously breaking into Oh Canada. The USA and Canada women’s hockey game for the gold medal was a great game. Today is the Men’s gold medal game. I hope this game can live up to the hype (I’m sure it will) U...S...A . :birthday: I am a winter Olympics junkie so it was hard to come up with one.
