ZD and I were discussing a possible meet and greet (or 2) the week of DEMA.

I'll be arriving on Monday the 11th and leaving Sunday the 17th.

Anybody else (local or coming in for the show) want to get together? Any locals know of any diving to be had in the area?

I'll be there the 12th to the 16th or 17th myself! Sounds like a great plan to me!

FYI...the only attendees this year will be Instructors, DM's, and buyers for companies. So if anyone wants to go as an SD instructor or DM...let me know. You'll still have to pay the seminar or exhibits price but the member cost is less!

Go to Pricing for DEMA and check it out!

I'll be there - long story.

Busy Saturday evening :teeth: but open Friday evening.

What do you have in mind...?

Since I am not a instructor or dive professional, I can not attend DEMA but I would like to meet up with those of you who will be here. Would anyone be up for it?

Mitch that is an AWESOME IDEA!!! Do you mind helping to organize a DEMA Happy Hour??? I think we have folks coming from other parts of the US so it would be a great time to meet and hook up...especially if we did it close to DEMA.

Let me know what you think and what others think as well! -ww

Kamala, I would be glad to help anyway I can. For starters, where is DEMA being held? Reliant Center? George R. Brown? Once I know that, I can go from there. FYI, Reliant Center is the same facility where SeaSpace was held.

Another factor will be where most of you coming from out-of-town will be staying. I want to minimize the driving you must do as much as possible. Houston traffic between 3-7PM during the week can be a real pain.

Also, what day of the week would be best? I was thinking that Thursday (14th) or Friday (15th) would be best for the DEMA happy hour. Any thoughts?

Finally, for those of you who will be in town by Tuesday, the 12th, I would like to invite you to join me at Wild West on Richmond that evening. One of my other passions besides diving is country dancing and I am part of a large dancing community that gets together every Tuesday at Wild West. I will provide more details later, I think you would enjoy it.

I will be at the show in booth 1748 everyday. I will also be giving siminars called Value In Live-Aboard diving everyday as well. I would love to go to a happy hour and will be there three days after the show ends if anyone has anysuggestions for hangouts after the show. Mitch iF you want to go to DEMA just give me a call or email me and I will get you a pass. I know a some people in the industry that are of course divers and single that I usualy hang out with during these shows and would love to invite some of them along so that they can meet you guys and maybe become members themselves. They are all interesting people and work for dive magazines, resorts, manufacturers and other places and businesses in this industry. Is this allowed at the happy hours or is it reserved just for members?

Well, I answered my own question, DEMA is being held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston. If I can find where most of you coming from out-of-town will be staying, I can come up with some options.

Mitch: You are a doll! As soon as you come up with a suggestion for the location let us know and we'll open a thread for the Houston Happy Hour in the SD Events section.

Sunchaser: Does your scheudule say what nite all the festivities will be for DEMA? Will it be Sat as well as Friday? Lets pick the night with the least amount of conflict for DEMA functions!

Sunchaser: Yes you can invite ANYONE you like to join us! We are open to single non-married and spoken for but buddyless as well as married but buddyless divers. The more the merrier and we'd love to meet new people who might be interested in our gang! I'll even create a recruiting award for the person that gets the most new guests to come and check us out!!!

:teeth: Hey, sounds like a fun crowd. Anybody interested in diving the Flower Gardens 10/10 - 10/13??? Last I heard there was still room. I'm staying with family in Houston (I think on the north side of town) but would love to meet up with SD's for a Happy Hour. Friday or Saturday night is better for me.... how bout a fun Country Western Bar... you know when in Rome :angel2:

Ok looks like Friday is the best night so far as we've had one vote against Saturday and one vote for some CW music! Happy Hour should be as Mitch suggests close to the Convention center...but what we do AFTER Happy Hour can be anywhere!
