A chat room is a great! I wouldn't be surprised if it's been in the back of ZD's mind for a future upgrade. 'Course, the some of us would never get anything else done....

Girlfriend...I'm sure it has! And maybe we can see what the feasibility is based upon what others have suggested we try out. Now to just clone ZD so we can get all of this done! LOL!!!

P.S. any wanna-be clones out there lurking??? We could sure use your help! -ww

Not fat finger, I do like to consider my respones before hitting the enter key. I tend to be a bit on the sarcastic side, even when I don't want to be, so I try to be careful. Try, but not always successfull.

just get yahoo messenger, and use the same IDs

i set up a yahoo group when this thread first started... it has a chat room in it.. maybe zen can link it somehow
i called it scuba central...
ill give it to sd... not a problem... im not that good at runnin things like that...but love to chat....

Sure lots of folks have Yahoo Messinger and AOL IM, but my thinking behind my initial suggestion was to create an opportunity for folks to chat when they are visiting the site.

If there were a chat room here and people are chatting when someone enters the site they will see that and if they have the time and are so inclined they could join the chat.

It is a good way to just chat with others, and meet someone you might never meet otherwise, I don't imagine everyone reads every post on the board, (at least I don't), but only the ones of interest.

When I have time I hang out in a couple of "singles" chat rooms and have gotten to know the folks there. Although I can't say I have ever met the other chatters, lots have.

People who don't like to chat don't have to chat, it's that simple.

While a seperate chat room on Yahoo is a great idea, I just thought it would be nice to have everything in one location.

I am not a debater and if the idea does not appeal to everyone that is fine, but others might enjoy it and again might encourage hits to this site.

I would be interested in the link to the Yahoo site if someone could post it, but honestly I would be more inclined to chat if it were right here when I visited.

Hey gang...first off we are SOLD on the idea of having a chat room. With it being end of the year most of our SD staff have real jobs that are pretty hectic until after the new year!

We have several options we can explore to incorporate this idea into the site or message board. Some are easier but involve banner ads.

Some don't involve banner ads but require more programming or money.

BUT....we are definitely going to ad this feature as soon as we can! Thanks gang it was a good idea!

Go the easy route. There are plenty of inexpensive software filters that can easily handle banner ads (I use ADSUBRACT). Even before I had that, they never really bothered me that much, I usually found them easy to ignore. The ones I detested were the blinking, vibrating, or pulsating ads, and of course pop-ups.

I like the idea of the chat room on-site here at SD. The IM sounds pretty good too. I think it will enhance our abilities to mingle with each other. I 'm going to need to lose some weight in my fat fingers Bling! Bling!

The idea for a chat room is great.. I used to belong to this site that one... we all loved it. sometimes there be only one or two folks on it but in the evening there'd be 25 to 30 and it was fablous... lots of good things came out of it. Alas the company that owned the site went belly up and we moved over to msn and then it kind of went away. stay with me now..

But while it was going there was a constant exchange going on, ideas, inforamtion and so on. I think that what we have on this site is here for the long run. It is a viable idea and I look forward to seeing all of you when and if we gat a chat room going in here!! until the I guess that pm's is what we are doing. It's a bit slower and we all know that we live in the instant gratification world...
