Any thoughts are using Winair through St. Maartin? It apparently have a codeshare with US Airways and can do it in a single day return via Charlotte.

BTW, I have this worked out now where I can fly American down and US Air on the return and end up with no overnight layover for about $900 RT including the flight to DOM.

Since they are soon to be the same airline, this looks to be the way to go for me.

Looking at Winward Air's site, I would be concerned about their excess baggage policy. Any bag past the first checked and one carry-on that weighs 6lbs or less, flies "standby" with no real guarantee that it's going to make it. It also states that some routes will absolutely NOT be allowed excess bags. I guess it would be worth a phone call if you are seriously considering it. I would look at it also, I can do BWI-DOM for $776. That's a sweet deal - if my gear makes it...

The challenge is the timing. Being able to take a 9:00am flight out of Dominica allows me to make the connections back to Charlotte and then on to Denver in one day. And a single 50lb checked bag is never an issue. Its the carry-ons that will be the problem.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Get you premier membership updated asap. This trip will open by tomorrow if all goes well or by Monday if it does not. We have a contract on the BVI air which is one of several ways to get to the island. The spots on the plane are VERY limited so as we did last year...we will allow the first people who sign up WITH VALID PREMIER MEMBERSHIPS to get the limited number of plane seats available on BVI.

As you know we have 2 back to back trips with people wanting to do two weeks. I am looking into arriving a couple of days early and staying a couple of days after the 2nd trip to free up more of the spots in the prime travel zone of Sat to Sat.

IF YOU ARE DOING BOTH TRIPS....Please consider something similar. (I'm also working on a better price for those willing to do that for the extra days)

KEEP IN MIND.... those doing the first week can only do extra days before the first week and not afterwards or you impact the rooms for the 2nd week. (We may be able to get you rooms at the sister hotel next door or simply put you in the sister hotel so you do not have to move rooms if you need to stay longer but leave on a different day.)

Also the same holds true for those doing the second week...you can not arrive early as you will impact the rooms for the first week's group UNLESS we put you in the sister hotel for the extra nights or for your entire trip if you don't want to move.

My plan will be to book rooms at the sister hotel as needed so we have them. You will book them as a single room to begin with and we'll work to fill in roommates for those extra nights as people's flights get worked out. IN OTHER WORDS...you'll probably get a roomie if you want one but its not guaranteed like we do for the pkg.

I am working out the last minute details for the trip and I will get it posted asap.

PLEASE GET YOUR MEMBERSHIPS UPDATED AS THE AIR ON BVI IS VERY LIMITED AND SEATS ON IT WILL BE PART OF THE EARLY BOOKING SPECIALS SO YOUR MEMBERSHIP MUST BE UPDATED.
