would this pink "tail" be one of those aircraft flags that are pulled before flight on things like bombs

They are actually tags attached to covers that protect a thing called a pitot tube. There are a couple on every plane and they are used to measure air pressures. In turn that gives the flight instruments altitude and speed information.
