Well, I work for CAT in their Marine/Industrial power/engine division. I am sure I could steal us a few Marine engine mechanics.... We could keep them below in the engine hole and if they do good let them out every now and then.
P.S. Could get an employee discount on all our engine needs..

i also emailed them about it... got a brokers name in fla. and pretty much all the specs that where in the ad... didnt metion sd.com.... also checked on the 41 ft research vessel they have... might be another option... they sent me ten pics of the tender....still dont know where she is... but im lookin...

You've had better luck than I have. I have gotten no response at all. Monday, I'm calling the office in Cyprus. Will let you know what I find out. Thanks for sharing the info.

doc... give this number a try... i got it from their site... i signed up to there newletter... and take a look at the other vessels... she 41 ft... with a dive compressor... side band sonar... bunch of goodies for a diver

if u wanna email me..ill send along everything i got so far.. isnt much more that we already have... i was also checkin to see if she was leased ...and possiblly leasing her to a marine school for 9 months of the yr... at 14 knots... not really sure she would be good as a liveaboard... but she will go 13,000 miles on fuel... as far as D.D.A.s go... these engines are a lil smaller than the aux engines i worked on in the navy... but its still the same thing.... runnin her would be a cost.... prolly holds 150k gal. of fuel... heck a refuel could take all day without a few boatswains mates...lol,... looked at a marine research grant also... if someone knows how to write grants... we could prolly muster up 100k on idea alone.... maybe 350k if there good and we come up with a plan.... and with a lease to a school... that could bring in another 150k... im geeked ..i know that much...lol

I got the same info and same pics. I'll post below. The broker has indicated that several people have expressed interest...must be all of our guys...and someone named 'Todd' I think. He also said the boat was in Canada and he thinks that DrDiver will be contacting him to 'discuss' SD's offer for the boat if we are interested. Not sure you'll get more from him then what we all have so far.

Sub Data:
The role of the SDL-1 is to perform missions, with or without the deployment of divers, such as underwater rescue, underwater salvage, oceanographic support, underwater research, and inspection of the seabed. The submersible is propelled by five independently controlled thrusters, mounted in fixed positions; two vertical, two horizontal, and one lateral. Each is pressure compensated, and is driven by a 5 hp 120 v DC brushless motor. The control system includes a microprocessor and allows various pilot modes, from manual to fully automatic. Power is provided by lead-acid batteries which are carried in externally mounted pressure compensated battery boxes. High pressure watertight penetrators are provided for the cabling from these power sources, and for the externally mounted equipment. All circuits are protected with magnetic breakers, and system is ungrounded, with no power leads attached to the hull.
