Since my post on this thread, I have changed jobs. I'm still a Systems Engineer, but now I work for MITRE Corp. and the Air Force Air Combat Command keeps be busy.

This thread is a real piece of North American socio-economic modern history...

Meanwhile, over in Europeland, job titles have gone crazy (Brits blame Brussles). I met a "nail technician" last trip home. I thought he was in the building industry, but he was infact a manicurist. the guys that collect your rubbish/garbage, are now "Cleansing technicians".

As for me, I am in just a plain old fashioned "money for old rope" line of work - or in modern terms "management consultant, specialising in communications/organisational change in developing/emerging markets" (yes, it is an uphill struggle...)

I'm a Mechanical Engineer stuck in the aerospace industry for 21 years now. Currently working for the FAA. So I guess I'm more of a government bureaucrat than an engineer these days, but hey, somebody has to do it.

I work for one of the largest telecom companies in the US, delivering broadband digital and analog data circuits. My work takes me into a variety of places from government, high tech buisness to field work. I spent most of the wee hours of this morning babysitting a cell tower. Mostly my job is fun, but sometimes it is very stressfull, like the night the entire com system crashed at Lakehurst Naval Air Station and I was the only tech stupid enough to answer my phone. Yeah, that was a fun night...

On the side I would like to be a writer or photogtapher but I suck at both :cool2: so I stick with my day job lol
