My life is such an empty void. How dare they criticize me for taking time off. I need that time to go to Cozumel and cry about my pitiful life

move over, baby, so i can cry about my SAME pitiful life!!!
with me, our residents always say,"gee, you crna's are always on vacation!". to which i reply with a shrug, "excuse ME for making the right career choice!"
just because OTHER people are miserable, doesn't mean we have to join 'em!

I know some married people who like to work overtime instead of going home to their SO. Makes you wonder why they stay married. Must be for the tax benefits.

Seems that part of it is jealousy. They have "obligations" whereas I am free to do things that they cannot. But I will never have the thrill
of having a child look up to me and say "Daddy." I will never get to teach a son to play ball or worry about a daughter getting pregnant.

My life is such an empty void. How dare they criticize me for taking time off. I need that time to go to Cozumel and cry about my pitiful life

PS. I am new here and most of what I wrote is sarcasm. I do not feel guilty about taking a trip that I plan a week in advance or one to Australia three days in advance. I do need a female companion though.

Aw, CP, you blew it! I had one relatively young (21)- she's all grown up now & I have both my freedom & GRANDBABIES!!!!!!! :lmao:

Ahem! Grammie, if you please! :lmao: And, thank you for the complement! I just saw them this weekend- I was able to combine seeing them & playing in my tournament. Katherine is 6, Niko (Nikolai) is 3 & Conner is 9 months. Unfortunately, my daughter & SIL have decided not to have any more, unless they adopt so I know I have to wait a while for more- but I'll get them, never fear  . Since the SIL has gotten a vasectomy, I just keep talking about all those parentless children out there who would just be such a blessing to have in our family! Am I a shameless Grammie or what ??? For me, the most wonderful thing in the world is to lie on the carpet while they all climb all over me!

Let me see...CNRA's...24 hr shifts...12 off and then possible another 24 hrs. Sounds great to me! NOT!! (Ok so that may not be the norm but it certainly happens in the DFW area!)

Second point...so only 1 CNRA can usually be off at any one time....guess that means it seems one is off all the time....hmm....funny how things appear farther away in the rear view or side mirrors!

Third...you have people's lives in your hands EVERY DAY!!! You and the Anesthesiologist CERTAINLY deserve EVERY min of vacation that you take and get. I'd rather have surgery AFTER you all have been on vacation then right before you are due to leave!!! LOL!!! That is if I ever have to have surgery!!!

As for joining you in Cozy or Bonaire to cry about my miserable life....can I be a charter member???? :cool2:

I get grief from my supervisor, for I am the only person that does my job. He wants me to find coverage for my position, but I throw it back to him and personel. Finding coverage is not my responsibility. I earned the time, I deserve to take the time.

I think ultimately, he is jealous, for I do take quite a few days off. I have been with the company for 13 years, whereas he has only worked for the company less than a year and works many hours. Oh well, that is his choice. I perfer to be an indian than a chief.

I put in the vacation request, and 99% of the time I get it.

Fortunately I work a "compressed" work week, where I work the time for 10 days in 9, so every two weeks I get a three-day weekend :welcome:

Well at my job one person always asks me how much the trip cost and then shakes his head and walks away. The rest are glad I am going! But they ALL want to see the photos when I get back.
