near houston and the tx gulf come out OK. maybe we can have a

Teresa, remember the last time we car pooled together? Every inch of my Escape was stuffed full of our stuff. I can only fit one other person in my car.

Good Gawd!! Why would anyone intentionally get in water 47 degrees???? I am freezing just thinking about it! For me "too cold" is anything that requires gloves, a hood, or any suit thicker than a 3 mm. But I do have to admit I am a bit of a wuss!!

even though it's cold it is diving! some have to play the hands we are delt, sooner or later i'll get to one of these SD events and enjoy warmer waters until then.......

BTW, love the carribean vactions to break out the 3mm too!!!

My wetsuit has already been christened several times in Mexico! Much better than yucky old lake diving but I didn't have the cash lying around to hop a plane for the weekend so Athens will have to do!!

I hate lake diving. I hate quarry diving. I basically hate anythinig that does not have 100 ft vis and a cute little cabana boy waiting at my hotel (on the beach of course, not my room unless he looks like Brad Pitt) with an icy cold adult beverage.
I know you have said Athens bites, I have heard it from other people as well but it is not always just about the diving. Sometimes it is about the friendships you forge along the way. I am new to the site, and to diving and cherish the chance to meet like minded people. Yes, I know there is crappy vis, yes I know there is no depth (which frankly I might prefer when I can't see where I am), but I don't care! I want to check it out, meet some other people, and just have a good time. I don't see anything wrong with that. I would probably be just as happy camping with people from SD in the mountains as I would in Athens. Of course I prefer Fiji but the trip was already booked! Now everyone relax, have a flinkie and have fun!!! Isn't that what this place is supposed to be about?

Would definitely carpool; however, I'm not an Athens supporter, so won't make this trip.

Hope you have a fab time - want to see pics of the famous tail!
